Every two years Americans waste millions of dollars voting on who will represent us in Congress. It is not only a waste of money but time and effort.

Why go through this outdated process year after year? History has shown that we only need to hold elections for the one or two politicians that die or retire.

Think how much time we will save. Imagine not having to endure the endless advertisements and yard signs. Politicians wouldn’t have to lie about who the are, what they stand for, or make promises they never intend to keep.

Lobbyists could use the money they waste on campaign spending and apply it directly to bribes.

Politicians will love this idea because they won't have to raise millions of dollars on reelection efforts. They can spend more time not getting anything done, attacking each other, and spending tax dollars.

Consider the following reelection statistics:

These charts prove that if a politician is not dead, retiring, or going to jail, we don’t need to bother holding an election for their seat.

I’m sure there are those that will not like this proposal. It is in the Constitution after all that we are supposed to hold elections every two years. But things change, right?

The Founding Fathers probably thought politicians would hold office for a few years and return to society. But just in case, they put in a fail safe provision to prevent 85% reelection rates and politicians that wanted to hold power for 40+ years.

It’s every politician’s nightmare, because they have no control over its power. It’s called Article V, and it is in the Constitution, too.

It gives we the people the ability to rein in the federal government when it gets out of control, like it is now. We have the power to send these permanent politicians packing by enacting term limits.

Elections will once again mean something. House members will have perhaps six years and senators twelve to accomplish something, and then they are forced to live with the rest of us.

It’s time for the insanity of 85% reelection rates and permanent politicians to end. Click here to find out how you can help.
