By Dana Ives

Since we are all advocates of the notion that 60% of the States can call for a Convention of States to address the waywardness of our federal government, you probably consider yourself, dear reader, to be a pretty logical, methodical and informed citizen of our Constitutional Republic, right? I assume you have taken pains to study federal policies, including foreign and domestic, maybe even comment on US government agency proposals, write your representatives, voice your opinion, correct?

By Jim MacDonald

The mission of the Convention of States is to cultivate the largest, most engaged army of self-governing grassroots activists. This mission is crucial because the U.S. Constitution asserts that “We the People” hold sovereignty over our government—we are the ultimate authority. The Constitution also ensures that every state remains a republic, meaning we elect representatives to make laws on our behalf.

By Robin Sampson McCarthy

As a volunteer for the Convention of States, I am inspired by the enduring power of Thomas Paine's influential pamphlet series, “The American Crisis.” These writings (published from 1776 to 1783) played a crucial role in rallying support for the American Revolution and shaping the philosophical foundations of the United States. Paine's passionate and persuasive prose bolstered the colonists' resolve during their long and arduous struggle for independence from Britain.

Over two centuries later, the key themes and arguments in “The American Crisis” still resonate.

By Jim MacDonald

In our fast-paced, often self-centered world, generosity is a beacon of hope and community. As volunteers and supporters of the Convention of States, you already understand the profound impact of coming together for a greater cause. But today, let’s reflect on the deeper roots of generosity and its transformative power in our lives and communities.

Robin Sampson-McCarthy

In the heart of the Old Testament lies a story of resilience, leadership, and unwavering faith that mirrors the modern-day grassroots movement for the Convention of States (COS). Nehemiah, a cupbearer to the king in a foreign land, felt a divine calling to return to Jerusalem and rebuild its broken walls. His journey, marked by profound challenges and triumphant victories, offers invaluable lessons and inspiration for those championing the cause of liberty and constitutional fidelity in our time.

Nehemiah's story begins with a burden—a deep, consuming concern for the welfare of his people and the state of Jerusalem. Upon hearing of the city's desolation, he wept, fasted, and prayed, displaying a heart fully committed to God's purposes. This initial response reflects the sentiment at the heart of the COS movement: a profound concern for the nation's future and a desire to restore foundational principles. Like Nehemiah, COS advocates are driven by a vision of restoration, seeking to rebuild the protective walls of the Constitution to safeguard the liberties it enshrines.

content.conventionofstates.com_cosaction-prod_public_content_images_85371_85371_original.jpgThe Battle is Here and Now

By Jim MacDonald

The oppression we face isn’t new. The system has been attacking innocent people for years. Recent events merely shed light on a corrupt system, hopefully waking Americans up to the reality that has incarcerated our country. We were once the greatest nation the world has ever known. We need everyone to unite, put down meaningless hobbies, and make saving our republic your primary mission.

Americans have become weak and complacent because we’ve had it so good for so long. Now, it’s our duty to fight if we want to defeat the enemy of our nation. Our rights come from God, not from the government. We are self-governing patriots, and I refuse to concede to the powers of tyrants.

Answers to Common Questions

Why did the Founders add Article V to the Constitution?

content.conventionofstates.com_cosaction-prod_public_content_images_85134_85134_original.jpgDid You Know…

“The reason why there are two modes of obtaining amendments prescribed by the Constitution I suppose to be this–it could not be known to the framers of the Constitution, whether there was too much power given by it or too little; they therefore prescribed a mode by which Congress might procure more, if in the operation of the government it was found necessary; and they prescribed for the states a mode of restraining the powers of government if upon trial it should be found that they had given too much”.–Samuel Rose, Founder, New York State Legislator
