At first glance, the fight over Critical Race Theory doesn't seem like it has much to do with the effort to call a Convention of States to limit the power, scope, and jurisdiction of the federal government. It's easy to assume that Critical Race Theory is a philosophy of “racial justice” that has more to do with culture and politics.

But as Convention of States Action President Mark Meckler pointed out on a recent episode of his weekly Battlecry!, the authoritarian roots of CRT are directly in the crosshairs of the Article V movement.

“Marxism and critical race theory come from the same root,” Mark said. “Critical theory is a fundamental theory of Marxism. It comes out of Marxism through the Frankfurt school in Germany and through Antonio Gramsci in Italy.”

“Critical theory says that you criticize everything endlessly until you can destroy the structures of society and replace it with a Marxist utopia,” he said.

How do these Marxists plan on instituting their “utopia”? By taking the levers of power in Washington, D.C.

The federal government has amassed so much power and authority over the last 100 years that the Marxists leading the CRT movement believe they finally have the opportunity to take control. Congress, the President, and the Supreme Court have the power to radically transform our country–all the CRT Marxists have to do is seize power, destroy our country's history, and make their “utopia” a reality.

We must do everything in our power to elect liberty-loving candidates to both state and national office. That much is obvious. But our country cannot hang in the balance every two and four years. We must erect a permanent wall against big-government Marxism, and the only way to do that is with an Article V Convention of States.

A Convention of States is called and controlled by the states and has the power to propose constitutional amendments that limit the power, scope, and jurisdiction of the federal government.

These amendments can eliminate many federal agencies by revoking federal jurisdiction over things like education, energy, and the environment. It can limit the President's power by banning executive orders, and set the number of Supreme Court justices at nine. Amendments can limit the amount of money Congress can spend, which would hamstring Marxist efforts, and it can impose term limits on federal officials, which will keep federal politicians from using their office to get rich.

The fight over Critical Race Theory isn't just about education, race, or culture. It's about the future of our nation, and we must use every tool at our disposal to stop the Marxist takeover and return power where it belongs: with the people and the states.
