Surge Day 2024 will be Wednesday May 8th.
You are welcome to attend 1 or all of these days.

What you need to Do:

  1. RSVP here and let us know that you plan to attend.
  2. Contact your Representative and/or Senator IMMEDIATELY and make appointments to meet with them on May 8th. If you are unable to get an appointment we can still stop by the office and leave information with the staff. MI Senators - MI Representatives
  3. Add your appointments to the Appointment schedule via this form or by email ( sarah.santana@cosaction.com ). All appointments should be listed on the Appointments page before the date of the surge day.
  4. Learn How to Make an Action Report from your phone or via the website so that you can let us know about any conversations you have. This is incredibly important as it will allow us to have a much better understanding of the legislature as a whole.
  5. Join the Surge Day 2024 channel on the Michigan COS slack workspace to connect & coordinate with others going before and on the day. If you are a volunteer but are not yet on slack, send a note to to sarah.santana@cosaction.com asking to be added.

Daily Schedule

  • 8am Meet up & Pray

We will gather in the Lobby of the Anderson Building (Map: 124 N. Capitol Ave, Lansing) at 8am. Bring a Government issued ID (Drivers License, etc) as it will be necessary for you to get through security.

  • 8:30am-2:30pm Meet with Legislators

Our schedule is planned around our appointments with legislators. Most appointments will fall between 10am and 2pm. Some appointments could be earlier or later and unforeseen circumstances could cause legislators to run late. Appointments Page

Representatives’ offices are in the Anderson Bld. Senators offices are in the Binsfeld Bld.
Leadership legislators have offices in the Capital Bld.

  • Lunch: It is unlikely that the entire group will be available to stop and eat at the same time due to varying appointment times. Consider your personal appointment schedule and choose a time to do lunch that works best for you. You can bring a lunch with you or visit a local restaurant (Food Options near by). Experience has shown that local restaurants can be very time consuming to get through, so give yourself a lot of extra time if you choose this option.

  • 2:00/2:30 on - Optional tour of capitol or viewing of Legislative session as the situation allows.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Dress Code?
Business Casual. If you have a professional non-partisan COS shirt you would like to wear that is also fine. Please don't wear “Hell no Joe” or “Let's go Brandon” shirts. There will be COS buttons available to dress up your business casual garb.

What should I bring?
A government issued ID like your Drivers License. You will be required to have an ID to get through security on your way to appointments.

Can I bring my gun?
No. Please leave any weapons at home or in your vehicle.

Can I carpool?
While there is no official carpool being scheduled for this event, volunteers and local teams are welcome to set up their own carpool. Feel free to use the Surge Day 2024 slack channel to coordinate.

What do I say to my legislator?
