Over the weekend of December, 19-22 young Conservatives from across the nation met at West Palm Beach for the annual Turning Point USA Student Action Summit. The event was presented by various leading members of the Conservative movement such as Dinesh D’Souza, Senator Rand Pual, as well as Donald Trump Jr., with a grand appearance of Vice President Mike Pence on the last day.
The event covered various topics, with each speaker having a unique viewpoint to a problem within America, or even within the GOP itself. One example being Matt Gaetz of Florida, who with his trademark Firebrand Spirit declared the new type of Conservative, far gone are the old Bush family Gatez gleefully declared.
The event was also sponsored by various groups within the Conservative movement such as the National Rifle Association, the Heritage Foundation, the Leadership Institute, among other groups that informed attendees on their specific issues.
Coleton Cristiani was one such student who flew from Rohnert Park, California. His most important issue is that of “balancing the economic empowerment of individual citizens with fiscal responsibility.” Cristiani believes the best speaker was Fox News host Tucker Carlson, who “gave an inspiring message of hope and optimism, empowering young conservatives to live their best lives.” The event left him with a feeling that reinvigorated his political view and “with a sense of enthusiasm, and relentless optimism of the future of the Conservative movement. “
Ben Rogoff of New Jersey is another such student. He believes economic independence above all else is the most important issue. His favorite speaker being Madison Cawthorn, stating he is an “inspiration to the new republican party, and most importantly proves young conservative activists can turn their political beliefs into action.” Rogoff states that the event left him feeling proud to call himself “a member of this new movement.” That he has “made friendships who will last a lifetime, and I have faith for this new movement with its activists.”
Many students are standing up for liberty but don't know how to transform their voiced frustrations into tangible action. Through the grace of God, our Founders gave us a solution, Article V. The attendees are ready to bring the fight to Washington and can serve as the future generation of leaders within our nation. Many of them strongly believe in true American Conservatism, strongly opposed to “Neoconservatism” that demands higher government spending among other things viewed as going against the conservative agenda. I highly recommend that for the COS project to capitalize on this new generation, and show them the merit and true conservatism of our project.
The COS Project is strictly non-partisan, as a project we can truly make an impact on America’s youth who are ready to fight for our nation.
