Supporter of COS Ohio:
Thank you for taking the time to write letters to your legislators in support of the Convention of States Resolution HJR-1 in Ohio.
We have reached out to you specifically because your representative has not publicly supported our movement in Ohio and we need your help to engage these uncommitted representatives.
It is understood that hand-written letters are a highly effective tool for influencing elected officials. While we feel hand-write your letters are best, it's fine to type them if need be.
Below is a sample letter to use as a guide if you are in need of inspiration. It is important that your letter is clear and as unique as possible.
We need letters to be worded somewhat differently so please pepper in your own verbiage and feel free not to use the verbiage we have suggested below. We do want to be sure to compliment our representatives on any recent or ongoing efforts which we have listed below.
If you have any questions at any point in your letter-writing, please contact Diana Telles at <diana.telles@cosaction.com.>
Sample Ohio (preferably) handwritten letter to be mailed to Rep. Dean:
Month x, 2022
Dear Rep. Dean,
Please accept my sincere appreciation for your commitment to the state of Ohio. Also know I respect elected officials like you who are willing to face the challenge of balancing family life with time spent in Columbus representing our district.
In addition, I applaud you on your initiative with the ______bill and ______ bill this past year. I was in support of this legislation and am satisfied the intent of such bills helped forward conservative values in Ohio which are important to me.
I write to you today to promote the Convention of States (COS) movement in Ohio and ask for your support in the passage of our resolution HJR-1 this year. For eight long years, we have been urging the Ohio legislature to invoke Art V of the U.S. Constitution, joining the 19 states who have passed a COS resolution thus far.
It is clear to me that Washington is broken. It is in the hands of people who do not share my values of freedom and liberty. Holding a convention limited to proposing amendments is the best way I’ve found to push back on the overbearing Federal Government and bring power back into the states. Please vote in favor of HJR-1 when this resolution makes its way to the floor of the Ohio House.
Thank you so much for your consideration on this immensely important opportunity to promote liberty in our country.
Sincerely,
First name Last name,
Ohio House District 74
