Thank you for your interest and willingness to become a Florida Convention of State volunteer. Below is a list of all the opportunities available to you to help in the fight for Liberty. Look through them all and click the link to select those activities that appeal to you and the appropriate leader will contact you soon.

Programs

Operation DC: - A District Captain in All House Districts across Florida

Of the 120 State House Districts that exist in the State of Florida, over half are still in need of a District Captain. We need your help calling those who have expressed interest in volunteering for COS in each district. You can ask them to go to our TAKE ACTION page on www.conventionofstates.com and consider taking on the role of District Captain by answering the short survey. Sign up to help with this recruiting effort.

Reaching out to Friends and Family Across the USA

As of Dec 20, 2019,  15 states have passed the application to hold a convention; we need 19 more states to get it called. Do you have friends and relatives in a state that still needs to pass a resolution? Have you reached out to them and encouraged them to support or even join COS? Would you like to help call and encourage fellow COS supporters to do the same? If so, please go here to sign up.

Speaking Team

If you’re comfortable speaking in front fellow patriots and understand the Article V process (or are willing to learn) we would love to have you join our speaking team. You will be invited to attend webinar workshops where you can be mentored and coached by fellow “seasoned” speakers until you are confident in your presentation. We will offer you opportunities to speak at meeting events organized and attended by our Regional and District Captains. We will respect your limitations on travel distance when coordinating such events. If you are interested in helping to promote Convention of States in this very important manner, please sign up here.

TelePatriot Team

There is a new mobile app in development for iPhone and Android where volunteers can assist in “missions” to call large numbers of COS supporters who may need to be mobilized to take action to influence key legislators, often in other states working to pass their application to join the convention. The app is easy to learn how to use, as it provides the number of the constituent on a simple one-tap button. You can even engage in a mission where you use TelePatriot to host a three-way call, connecting a constituent with their state legislator.

It’s a very impactful and effective tool that could mean the difference between a favorable vote or not. If you like calling fellow patriots and getting them activated, and you know your way around your smart phone, this will be a great role for you. Just sign up here to let us know you’d like to be a TelePatriot!

Follow-up Team

Our Citizen Builder system is designed so that all those new to COS who go to our website, sign the petition and indicate they’d like to volunteer. We are always looking for people to help us welcome and thank these new patriots. This is currently being done by email, but we’re looking for people who can make a quick welcome call to those who have indicated that they want to volunteer.

You can ask them to go to the www.conventionofstates.com website and take a look at the TAKE ACTION page to see all the roles available for which they can apply. If they still can’t decide, just click the volunteer option and complete the short survey and someone from the grassroots coordination team will be in touch. Sign up here if you’d like to join our follow-up team.

Volunteer for the “Follow Up Team”

If you like meeting new people over the phone and finding out more about them, you may find assisting with this program fun. You will be calling people who felt compelled to check the volunteer box, just like you did. You’ll give them a hearty welcome and thank you, followed by instructions to search in their email for a more detailed survey.

You may even want to be on our grassroots coordination team, where you help volunteers to discover how they could best serve as a COS volunteer and even consider taking on a leadership role. Think of a Grassroot Coordinator role as that of human resources for our organization. If you’re interested in being on this very important team, please sign up here.

Florida Technicians Role:

If you’re computer savvy and like working with data, we’re looking for someone who is willing to dig into our software system on a regular basis.

You will be given basic training as a State Information Analyst (SIA) and then a template in which to enter requested data so we can see “big picture” status of our team and supporters on a regular basis. If you think this is something you are able and willing to do, please click here if your interested.

Young Floridians for COS

As mentioned before, we are forging a coalition with Turning Point members. However, we’d like to reach out to all members of our younger community and give them an opportunity to make an impact by sharing and endorsing Convention of States Project. If you know someone ranging in age from 14 to 35, who you think could be an effective supporter for COS, please sign up here.

Events

Your District Captain may want to host a meetup at a library, community center, or some other venue where you can invite people to stop by and learn about Convention of States. If you’d like to come help hand out written materials and encourage visitors to sign the petition, this is an easy and casual type of a event for you. Let your District Captain know that you’d be interested in attending and helping out by signing up here.

Table Events

Table events include gatherings hosted by an organizer other than COS where we can set up a table, display a banner and a canopy to present information, collect petitions and give materials. They include events such as gun shows, rallies, fairs and similar events where crowds of people meander from booth to booth. If you’d like to get involved with such an event, contact Bonnie, our State Events Coordinator by signing up here to find out where the next event near you will be.

Virtual Town Halls

This is a new idea that our Florida team would like to launch into a program where we can invite our State Legislators to meet with us via an online webinar app such as FreeConferenceCall.com. Not only can we give our state policy makers to share their support (or ask questions) about our mission, they can discuss other issues and legislative efforts that we can support as self-governing citizens.

We’re looking for people who feel comfortable approaching their state legislators and inviting them to a virtual townhall to meet with their constituents. You are welcome to host the townhall if you’d like or have one of our legislative liaison team members host or co-host. Please sign up here if you think this is an event  you’d like to help organize and attend.

Simulation led by College Students

Back in September of 2016, Convention of States organized a simulation of an Article V Convention of States in Colonial Williamsburg. It was a snapshot of how a Convention would work. They shared all the details on the main home page under “Simulation”.  The mock convention clips show via live stream on the internet for all supporters to observe for over seven hours of deliberation, voting and commentary. It was very educational and inspiring!

Here in Florida, our education team is reaching out to college clubs and organizations oriented toward self-governance. Plans are being made for COS leaders to host and guide college students in a simulation of a convention. If you’d like to be part of this event and help with all the planning and preparation leading up to this life changing endeavor to impact our young fellow patriots, please sign up here.

Homecoming Townhalls

After our Florida State policy makers have worked their annual session, we’d like for our District Captains and their teams to welcome them home with a townhall meeting. This is to give your House Rep or Senator an opportunity to reflect on the prior several months of legislative frenzy and share their accomplishments (and possible frustrations).

It’s an opportunity for us to offer support and feedback as constituents and help forge a positive relationship with them. This honest effort at gaining rapport with these officials will serve to convince them that we care about the decisions (and dilemmas) they face as civil servants. If you’d like to be a part of such a civic effort, sign up here.

Projects

 Survey Legislators-update tool

Our legislative liaison team is working to find out who supports, opposes or is on the fence for the offices of State House Representative and Senate. We need intel and have a tool called Legislative Management Tool. Each legislator needs a phone call to see how they feel about the out of control spending and overreach of regulation by career politicians in DC.

An email with a survey has been sent out to every candidate and now we need you to help encourage them to answer that survey so we can inform their constituents on who supports COS. Contact the Legislative Team by signing up here to learn how you can help.

Legislative Delegation Meetings

Every year, all the State House Representatives and Senators meet in all the counties that are contained within their districts to hear requests from County and Local Government officials as well as any citizen who requests time to speak at the podium. Attending such a meeting is very educational and enlightening for anyone who has never been to one. We make a concerted effort to inform all our leaders and supporters on when these meetings are held in hopes that they attend.

This year, we are encouraging some of our more articulate (and brave) supporters to stand up and express their support of COS and request that they support the legislation that the Florida COS Legislative Liaison team is proposing. It will clarify, in the statues, the process by which commissioners will be selected when an Article V Convention of the States is called. It also proposes improvements of existing laws regarding ratification of amendments by the states.

If you’d like to help inform other COS supporters about the Legislative Delegation Meetings, find people who will attend, and even speak or assist those who wish to speak, sign up here.

Operation DC: - A District Captain in All House Districts across Florida

(yes- we mentioned this above but it is one of the most important so here it is again LOL)

Of the 120 State House Districts that exist in the State of Florida,  65  are still in need of a District Captain. We need your help calling those who have expressed interest in volunteering for COS in each district. You can ask them to go to our TAKE ACTION page on conventionofstates.com and consider taking on the role of District Captain by answering the short survey. Sign up to help with this recruiting effort.

The Comms Team:

The Communications Team Project includes all our messaging outlets including social media, Radio, blog posts, content writing, podcasts and Letters to the Editor (LTTE). How better to get involved with your local news paper than to have a letter to the editor from you who live in the community! If you need a template, our team will provide one. Keep an eye out and reply to a misinformation article or submit an OP-ed. Click here if you like to get more involved.

The Great Slack Wrangle

SLACK is the communication application that we -FL COS leaders use, to communicate on projects, make announcements, report on events, and share ideas as well as cheer each others accomplishments.  A large percentage of them have still not joined us on this communication platform. If you’d like to help by calling and encouraging them to to sign on, make them feel welcome once they’re aboard, and offer to answer questions within the slack app to get them accustomed to using it, we’d love for you join our slack welcome team.

Quick Reference Link Page

While SLACK (mentioned above) is a great communication tool, it’s not a very good place to store files and videos that we refer to often in the course of learning how to be effective COS leaders. We are working on building a page right here on www.conventionofstates.com/florida . It will be the place where we can send anyone who may need something like a refresher tutorial, an order form or a link to a popular article or video that is helpful to share when promoting Article V. We’d like help with suggestions and feedback on this helpful resource site. Please go here to sign up to share your input

Operation Role Finder and Mentoring Network Program

As mentioned earlier, we have 100's of volunteers on our leadership management tool who have not yet discovered their “niche” in our COS community. We’re looking for “seasoned” COS leaders who can reach out and mentor those who have similar volunteer interests and skills. By sharing your experience you may help them to decide to take on a more defined role as a COS leader. Please sign up here and let us know you’d like to make yourself available for this important mentoring project and program.
