Prayer Warriors
Battle Plan
January 2019
January Events and Requests
• Many legislative sessions are starting this month! Continue to pray for Rita Dunaway and
the state Legislative Liaisons as they solidify and carry out legislative strategies across the
nation.
• Pray for the “home surge” effort that is aimed at engaging COS activists who are not in the
position to travel to their state capitals.
• After many months of work, COSU is available. Pray that for any remaining glitches to be
worked out and for the continued development of useful training resources.
Leader of the Month
Mark White serves as State Director in Hawaii.
Like many small, left-leaning states, Hawaii is a challenge, but Mark is
leading an active team that has big plans this month. A major event will
occur on January 16 when the team has planned a rally and visits to
legislators’ offices. This will be followed up with weekly visits to the
capital to connect with state lawmakers and drop off literature.
Scripture of the Month
For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for
the flesh, but through love serve one another. For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You
shall love your neighbor as yourself.” But if you bite and devour one another, watch out that you
are not consumed by one another.
— Galatians 5:13-15
Lord, we thank you for our spiritual and political ancestors who valued freedom and understood
that its purpose is to empower us to love and serve those around us. It grieves us to see that so
many only want freedom from responsibility and license for self-indulgence. We desperately need
a move of your Spirit to call us back to the truth of your Word and the heart of the Gospel. Purify
your people so that we will be able to model political liberty rooted in true spiritual freedom.
