A group of active Convention of States volunteers dedicated time to hosting a booth at the Sioux Empire Fair this month. Their mission was to spread the word about COS and Article V of the U.S. Constitution as well as to collect signatures to show support for the cause.
“[We] educated a lot of people on who we are and what we believe in,” said Shirlee Meier, SD State Director. “ A Convention of States for proposing amendments to this Constitution, using Article V of the Constitution, is the only legal, Constitutional and peaceful way to make great changes in Washington.”
The booth work was shared by several patriots now volunteering as part of the COS grassroots army. Some have been part of the effort for years while others are new to the team.
“It won’t happen overnight,” added Meier, ”but if we are steadfast and continue to press on and don’t give up, it will happen and we will restore the Constitution and the Republic our Founding Father’s left us with before we lose the freedoms they secured and our Creator gave us.”
Despite low fair attendance numbers, the COS team was able to collect more than 310 petitions to send to the states representatives.
