• Let them know you are their constituent.
• Tell them why you care personally.
• Make sure to ask their opinion.
• End on a positive note.
• Handwritten makes a stronger impression than typed.

Greeting

When writing, address them as Dear Senator <last name> OR Dear Representative <last name>.

Body

Tell them WHY YOU SUPPORT 34Ready Legislation.

Possible Reasons

• Ensuring that you will be represented at an Article V Convention (Only 34 states are needed to call an Article V Convention. That means a Convention could happen without Michigan calling for it.)
• Eliminate last-minute decisions about commissioner selection. (Currently, Michigan doesn't have an established selection process on the books.)
• Clarify the limits to a commissioner’s authority at the convention.
• Put appropriate legal penalties in place to deter abuse of power and/or coercion.
