Massachusetts Convention of States (MA COS) Videographer Steven Tribastone played a significant part in bringing history as it happened to COS supporters across the country when he served as a videographer at the recent simulated convention held at Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia.

Steven, who was awarded a COS Challenge Coin this past May for his tremendous efforts on behalf of COS in Massachusetts, previously worked video with the National Video Team at the COS summit in Orlando, Florida, in October 2022. He reprised the role in Williamsburg.

Arriving in Williamsburg on August 1, Steven had a chance to stroll around the grounds of Colonial Williamsburg and soak in the exciting and awe-inspiring history that that landmark has to offer before getting down to business.

Talented videographers like Steven must be highly attuned and quick-thinking. As the MA COS team has learned first-hand, not much – if anything – escapes Steven's eye. He said that “the process played out as I had expected” and that he was favorably impressed with what had occurred – and what had not occurred.

“One takeaway,” Steven said, “was the proof that the convention can't run away…Discussion and debate are part of the deliberative process. While some may have worried regarding what would happen once it began, it was clear that those participating were making sure that rules were adhered to.”

Steven was also struck by the professionalism and responsibility of the commissioners, or as Steven put it, “how seriously the delegates took the role they played during the discussions of the committees and subcommittees of the simulations. It was also worth noting that the delegates brought the perspectives of the States to these discussions.”

The simulation and fellowship were invaluable, Steven noted.

“Williamsburg itself is filled with so much history. It was great being with a team of like-minded individuals and I feel that it was an honor and privilege to be able to work with the National Video Team on covering this monumental event,” he said.

“I am very grateful for the valuable learning experience I gained with both collaborating with the video team as well as witnessing the simulation in all its workings.”

MA COS is grateful to Steven for taking the time to travel to Williamsburg to represent us and offer his expertise and talent in order for COS volunteers and supporters to have the opportunity to witness history in real-time.

Once again, Steven has demonstrated servant leadership and his commitment to Article V and the drive toward a convention of states.
