| DALE TIPTON – COS Indiana State Director The State Director's Summary Report: This is the summary report for COS Indiana for the month of February 2024. Action Reports totaled 181 (-50) from December 2023. Our past high was recorded in March 2023 (309). Region 5 continued to lead the way statistically. Individual volunteer standouts across the state include Robert Suarez, Diane Jones, Greg Colman, and David Nally. We currently list 65,701 petition signers (+137). We have 69,611 total supporters (+141). Active district captains’ number 20. (+1). Active region captains number 9. (N/C). Monthly COS financial donors totaled 110 (+5). The previous high was 117 in October 2023. –Vickie Moring has assumed leadership of Region 3. Vickie is now the RC for Regions 3 and 5. –The Indiana telepatriot mission to recruit individuals to attend the capitol, potentially becoming members of a Quick Response Team (QRT) is now terminated. The mission began on 11/25/2023 and to date we have made a total of 858 calls with 9 Indiana telepatriot volunteers participating. Thanks so much to everyone. –Social media has become a big part of what we do in COS Indiana. YouTube hits: February: 6,876 (-20,031). The significant downturn was due to technical issues with the YouTube platform. The previous high was November 2023 with 26,028. –Surge Day at the state capitol occurred on 2/22/2024. We recognized 3 new Patriot Pin recipients in COS volunteers Susan Gervais, Stacey Garrett, and Susie Harrell. We also met some new folks interested in volunteering after listening to remarks from Senators Liz Brown and Travis Holdman, who each also received Patriot pins. This is the first time in Indiana that legislators have been recognized in such a way. A special thanks to all who made the program happen, Stacey and Marty for their planning efforts, Ken for the video work, and Cheryl and Stacey for the National Anthem, along with accompaniment from everyone else! We made some noise. Thanks also to Marty and Dr. Dan for their informative and motivating speaking during the event. This was a good day to be a part of team COS Indiana! |

We recognized 3 new Patriot pin recipients in COS volunteers Susan Gervais, Stacey Garrett, and Susie Harrell.  Jesus Prayed for You by Tim Heidenreich – COS Indiana Prayer Contact Did you know that Jesus Prayed for You about 2,000 Years Ago? If you ever doubt your worth in this world, consider that Jesus thought so much of you that He personally asked His Father to bless you. Maybe you never realized that, but it’s clearly expressed in the Bible. Look in the Gospel of John, Chapter 17, verses 20-24. He is asking the Father to bless his disciples – and me (and you) – 2,000 years before we were created. 20 “My prayer is not for them (the disciples) alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one — 23 I in them and you in me — so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. 24 “Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world. Isn’t that a wonderful thing to know? Prayer is a wonderful blessing, regardless of whether we are the sender or the recipient. Expectant parents and grandparents pray for their children before and during a pregnancy, but how many people pray for future generations? You can do that. All you need is faith that God is real, Jesus is Lord over all Creation, and that you believe it. I hope you will pray for someone today. It’s a good feeling. We know that everything good comes from God, and we should be thanking him often. If you are struggling with prayer, as many people do, you can start by simply telling your Father in Heaven how much you appreciate something in your life. That is a prayer. A good meal, a warm dry bed, the smile of a child – there are so many things to be thankful for. In my experience, I like it better when my children say thanks for something than when they ask for something. I believe God does also. COS Prayer Warriors The COS Indiana Prayer Team – We have a team of 15 individuals who are part of COS National prayer team who offer to pray for you and your family when you are in need. If you need strength or encouragement, contact Tim Heidenrech at the link below. Tim will communicate your situation to the team and they will pray for you. If you’d like to join the team and pray for others, just send Tim your contact information. Anyone can join our team. We want more people lifting up the sick or troubled to God. There is no special time when you must pray; we just ask that the concern be addressed whenever you pray.  E PLURIBUS UNUM By An Ordinary Citizen | February 28, 2024 “The greatness of America lies not in being more enlightened than any other nation, but rather in her ability to repair her faults.” ~ Alexis de Tocqueville Should de Tocqueville be able, right now, to peruse any social media platform he might easily conclude that we are a society full of people who place a premium on self-love to the point of narcissism and act that out through unbridled self-expression or an indulgent selfishness that gives us license to ignore the rights of others. This is hardly the vision and hope that he saw in the United States in 1835. Were he to walk the streets of many cities and towns throughout the country today, he would also see a society whose culture is in flux. “E pluribus unum” (out of many, one), a once pervasive concept, has been usurped by “singula enim omnia” (the individual is everything). The problem is that the strength of our country emanates from the coming together of its diverse people (each one an individual) under one banner, one title…America. We are Americans. If that unity is our strength, and we wish this country to continue, then we have work to do. And, if de Tocqueville was right, we have the ability to do it. But where do we start? Do we develop local committees, elect better people, change our laws? Maybe…maybe all of those things. But before we do that, we have to change ourselves…each of us from the inside. And that brings us back to the concept of self-love…not as it appears on social media, but as it could be if we are to become a strong nation once again. This begins with each individual. That’s the pluribus part. Put another way… The indulgence and license so prevalent today are not evidence of self-love or freedom, but of slavery. That is, many of us are captives of our wants and feelings, which puts us in a precarious position. Feelings (which seem to be the life blood of social media) are not real. They are illusive and fickle. Feelings stem from thoughts, not the other way around. Being a slave to feelings (rather than recognizing the thoughts that generated them) is a very unstable way to live. And an unstable populace makes for an unstable country. We need a path that leads us out of slavery, into the freedom that affords us the opportunity to control the direction of our lives. The result is that when we (as individuals) experience this freedom and mastery, we will be free to cooperate with others both at home, in the neighborhood, in the wider community, and in the country. Terrific! How do we do it? The way to achieve self-love is simple but not easy. Simply put, we have to love ourselves enough to commit to being the best person that we can be. With practice and over time, we become individuals living out the concepts of right and wrong. Note: This is not “right” and “wrong” in the legal sense, or in the opinion of others, but right and wrong at the very base of who we are and how we treat other people. How we treat other people has a big impact on how we come together as a country. If we are each open to being the best person we can be, then things get a bit simpler. We will have a pretty good idea of what is right behavior, and we’ll also know when we mess up. Nobody else will need to point that out. If we're open to it, the realization that we were wrong (and need to make amends) will come home eventually. Admitting our mistakes (humility), and making amends goes a long way toward being able to cooperate with others. And cooperation, which is desperately needed, is in short supply at the moment. But self-love is tough love. We have to call ourselves to account, and that is uncomfortable. One way we do this is make sure that our behavior exemplifies the person we want to become. Behavior is a Language Behavior is a language. Our behavior tells others who we are, if we can be trusted, if they can work with us, if we are honest, and many other things. How we feel about ourselves and others shows up in our behavior. Here are just a few examples: · Listening: A big part of working with others is our willingness to listen. People can tell if we are really listening, or just pretending to listen while a decision has already been made. Hint: Look at the YouTube videos of any number of school board meetings in the past few years. Parents, teachers, and students spoke while board members pretended to listen. Those generally didn’t go well. · Clarifying/Questioning: Genuinely seeking to understand can bridge differences that only grow farther apart when there is no honest dialogue. We all have filters through which we interpret what we hear. Ask questions, restate what you heard, make sure you understand. Do what you can to promote understanding and compromise. · Common Courtesy and Respect: Showing respect for everyone often gets respect in return. Respecting someone else can be as simple as opening a door, not interrupting, showing up on time for a meeting, returning a phone call, text, or email. Courtesy and respect set the tone. · Keep your word: Again, this is simple. Barring other complications, do what you say you will do, and when you say you will do it. If complications arise, communicate quickly, and have an alternate solution if what you originally promised is not possible. · Limit your exposure on social media: Require the same thing of your children. It’s very difficult to control the perception others may have of anything you write or any pictures you post. As Willis and Wade (Georgia) recently discovered, anything on cell phones or the Internet is there in perpetuity ready to bite you in the butt at the first opportunity. Don’t provide the opportunity. · Look people in the eye: It’s one of the ways we all gauge trustworthiness. · Treat others as you would like to be treated: But don’t harangue others into doing the same thing. The “Karens” of this world will fade away eventually. Don’t be one of them. Onward There are all sorts of “yes, but…” arguments that can be tossed into this article. That’s why learning to truly love ourselves and behaving accordingly is not easy to do. But if America is going to continue, we have to do it. We have to get along despite widely divergent opinions, different lifestyles, different world views, different political leanings, different ethnicities, different economic classes. We have no viable options but compromise. The good news is, as de Toqueville said, our greatness lies in our ability to repair our faults. Let’s be about it. Let’s do whatever we can as individuals to help us again be worthy of the phrase, “e pluribus unum.” An Ordinary Citizen is a concerned activist and a regular content writer for Convention of States – COS Indiana – the Finish Line. |

 | J6 Journalist Stephen Baker Arrested Blaze News investigative journalist Steve Baker — who for years has been searching for the truth about Jan. 6, 2021, and believes the U.S. government has been targeting him for it — on Friday was charged with four misdemeanors related to his Jan. 6 coverage at the U.S. Capitol after turning himself in to the FBI in Dallas. The charges are: Knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority Disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds Disorderly conduct in a capitol building Parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a capitol building Baker learned of the charges for the first time Friday and earlier this week told Blaze News that the powers that be wouldn't tell his attorney about the charges because they believed Baker will post them on social media. Baker's Dallas attorney, James Lee Bright, added to Blaze News that withholding the nature of the charges against his client was a “really unusual” move. Bright told Blaze News that he's “disturbed” about what's happening with his client, especially given that Baker has been “in full compliance” all this time. Bright also said the federal government “three-plus years later going after people who were legitimate functioning journalists that day” appears designed to have an “absolute chilling effect.” Glenn Beck, co-founder of Blaze Media, wrote in a Friday morning op-ed that Baker's First Amendment battle is ours, too: “When the United States government can come after individuals, that's when you know our republic is crumbling. I've always said that if they can go after Donald Trump, they will go after people like you and me. And now they are. But Steve Baker is not deterred, and neither are we.” |
