Another week, another outrageous power grab courtesy of the federal government. Last week it came to us in the form of H.R. 1, ironically called the “For the People Act of 2021.”

If reading legislation isn’t in your wheelhouse, Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) wrote a nice summary, as did The Federalist.

No matter what, be sure to check out the contents of this bill. It’s a doozy. And, it has already passed in the House of Representatives. If anything can motivate people to support a Convention of States, it should be federal regulation of state election laws.

None of the states needs H.R. 1 dictating how they run elections, especially Florida.

In Florida, utter the words “hanging chad,” and you’ll likely elicit an eye roll or groan from anyone who voted in the 2000 presidential election between George Bush and Al Gore. It was a painful 35 days of counting and recounting, but it led to voter reform in Florida that now makes our state a role model for election integrity and efficiency.

Case in point: the November 3, 2020, election was Florida’s time to shine. On an election night riddled with confusion and questions, Florida reported its vote totals within a couple hours of the polls closing despite being the third-largest populated state in the nation.

Even though Florida showed America how to get it done on November 3, Governor DeSantis recently proposed new election reforms inspired by irregularities reported in other states during the 2020 election.

Governor DeSantis is making a smart, preemptive move by addressing specific types of election irregularities before they arise in Florida.

Florida is a role model when it comes to election reform, but we need to stay motivated and focused as if we are behind the curve in order to achieve the goal of protecting our state’s rights using Article V of the U.S. Constitution.

Article V is our most powerful tool. Article V of the Constitution allows the states to call a “convention for proposing amendments.” At this Convention of States, commissioners have the power to propose constitutional amendments that limit the power, scope, and jurisdiction of the federal government.

These amendments can shore up the federalist system our Founders envisioned and overturn activist Supreme Court decisions that allow the federal government total control over our daily lives.

Take action and encourage others to do the same by signing the petition below!
