content.conventionofstates.com_cosaction-prod_public_content_images_90236_90236_original.jpg Some of us are old enough to remember when there were newspaper boys and girls on the street corners of the bigger cities, hawking the latest edition of their cities’ tabloids! Spin forward a few decades and some of these tabloids have gone out of business or moved with the times to an on-line internet publication.

Well, Convention of States (COS) recently announced the winners of Phase One of the Letters to The Editor contest and publicized Phase Two. Phase One focused on crafting letters to introduce ARTICLE V to new audiences.

These letters are available to State Content Writers to spread their impactful words nationwide. Using the letters of the Phase One winners as templates and tailoring them to Louisiana, we can easily tackle topics that resonate with the readers in The Pelican State.

To make it easier for our talented COS State Content Writers, we compiled a list of newspapers and their URLs, so the writers in each area of the state can submit a letter to their local paper(s). If you want to join in sending these letters, let me know and I can send you copies of the templates as well as places to submit them.

If you are not already a State Content Writer, and you would like to use your writing skills to encourage self-governance in our state, log in to conventionofstates.com, click on the “Take Action” button, and apply for the position of State Content Writer.

Here is one of the winning letters-to-editor from Dallas Zimmerman of Illinois:

Fellow Citizens,

I am passionate to champion the Convention of States, urging fellow citizens to embrace this crucial movement for our nation's future. In these challenging times, our federal government needs a new approach to address complex issues. The Convention of States offers a unique and constitutional solution to empower people and restore balance. Article V is indeed “A Solution as big as the problem!”

As an Illinois resident, I feel it's our duty to shape our government actively. The Convention of States enables us by allowing state representatives to pass a resolution supporting a convention to propose amendments on federal spending, term limits on federal bureaucrats, federal judges, and Congress, and curbing federal overreach.

Supporting the Convention of States addresses issues overlooked at the federal level. This grassroots movement fosters collaboration, finding solutions that truly represent people's interests.

I urge fellow Illinois residents to learn more at Convention of States Action, sign the petition at Convention of States Action, and engage in this vital initiative. Let's unite, actively participate in the democratic process, and shape the future by returning the federal government to its constitutional limits—truly of, by, and for the people.

Please join me in spreading the news throughout Louisiana. content.conventionofstates.com_cosaction-prod_public_content_images_90238_90238_original.jpg
