Let’s Go Team Utah!!

COS National Update:
At Convention of States, we have 5,410,562
supporters and activists, 2,502,275 petition
signers, and 239,302 highly engaged activists
and activist leaders. These are not just
numbers; Every supporter, every signature,
every activist believes that our Constitution is
worth fighting for and that our nation's future
should be shaped by “WE the people,” not the
political elites.
Perhaps even more impressive, those 2.5
million petition signers I mentioned above -
They're spread across every single statehouse
district in America and span every nationality
and political orientation.
In the midst of this crucial battle we're in, COS
is actively educating and nurturing
relationships with state legislators, vigilantly
tracking resolutions through the legislative
process. We participate in state and even
national conference calls. We rally grassroots
supporters and encourage everyday patriots to
amplify their voices and call for an Article V
Convention.

COS National Last month:
On August 2-4, 2023, Convention of States
Foundation hosted an Article V Simulated
Convention in Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia!
This event provided a special opportunity for a
new generation of statesman to test-run this
constitutional process and paint a vision of
what's possible.
Volunteers are encouraged to host watch
parties to watch/listen to the recordings: In
case you missed it, here is the 2023

After the big event, we are inviting COS teams
to host town halls with the commissioners so
that they can share their experience.
This Simulation will be remembered as a
turning point in our history and the Convention
of States Foundation movement!

Constitution Day
– Sept. 17th
Each year, on September 17th, Americans
celebrate Constitution Day!
The Constitution was written during the
Philadelphia Convention
—now known as the
Constitutional Convention
—which convened
from May 25 to September 17, 1787. It was
signed on September 17, 1787.
George Washington, as president of the
Convention, signed the Constitution first,
followed by the other delegates, grouped by
states in progression from north to south.
James Madison, America's fourth President
(1809-1817), made a major contribution to the
ratification of the Constitution by writing The
Federalist Papers, along with Alexander
Hamilton and John Jay. In later years, he was
referred to as the “Father of the Constitution.”

to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice,
insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the
common defense, promote the general
Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to
ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and
establish this Constitution for the United States
of America

Utah Update:
We will be holding an In-Person Salt Lake County
COS multi-Utah House District (HD) and Regional
meeting at:
Location: Sandy Library, 10100 Petunia Way,
Sandy, Utah
Date: September 13th (the 2nd Wednesday of
each month)
Time: 7:00 to 8:00 pm

We want to be respectful of your time and just keep
it to an hour, but if you would like to stay longer and
chat that would be great.
This will be a group of likeminded people meeting
together to discuss our ideas on how to progress
the COS grass roots movement here in Utah,
utilizing COS volunteers and Article V of our
divinely inspired constitution.
We will be Celebrating Constitution week!!!
We will have some lively
conversations about
freedom and the love we have for our country and
constitution.

about COS, and bring interested friends! Our focus
will be on the Constitution, particularly Article V.

Legislative Liaison:
Be sure to contact your Legislators -
Elected officials represent our community and
our interests, so let them know who you are
and what you care about! Take time to
introduce yourself and your organization to
public officials serving your community
–
including both federal and state
representatives.
Make an appointment and discuss:
1- Their stance on Convention of States.
2- What Bills they are working on that COS
could possibly get behind and support.
3- Notify your District Captain, or Regional
Captain, or Legislative Liaison with the
results after contacting them.

Monthly Spotlight:
Name: Maylynn Hughes
COS Title: District Captain HD 25 & 40
City raised in: ”. I moved around a lot as a
child and spent some time in California, Idaho,
Missouri, Arkansas, and Utah. My father was
born and raised in Arkansas, and my mother
was born and raised here, so we always came
back here to mom's home base. We moved
every 6 months to a year, but I did graduate
from High School and the Salt Lake City
Community College, Skills Center Division,
here in Utah.
City current living in: Murray, Utah
Favorite Hobbies: Gardening in the summer;
reading and writing poetry, articles, and short
stories; learning new software; hanging out
with my two adult daughters; listening to
political podcasts; and camping in our beautiful
mountains when I get a chance.
What brought you to COS (Your Why): My
boyfriend actually brought me some brochures
about COS, but I really started to get involved
this year because of the shape that our current
President is driving our nation to. Our society
seems to have lost their history, and we
desperately need to get it back.

More about you: At 19, in 1982, I married my
first husband and moved to Chicago, IL then
relocated to Syracuse, Indiana. I was divorced
by 1987, and attended college in Ft. Wayne,
Indiana from 1987 to 1989. I met my children's
father in 1989 and relocated to Phoenix,
Arizona. I was married in 1996, had my
children and divorced again in 2001. Then
about 6 years ago, in 2017, I decided to move
back 'home'
– Utah.
I went from receptionist, to secretary, to
purchasing and buyer, to job cost accounting,
in the 30+ years of Business Management
experience. I always seemed to set up
systems and work myself out of a job. I was
made to retire early after a diagnosis of Bi-
Polar I in 2003, as the powers that be told me I
could no longer work. I am currently collecting
disability, and occupy myself online in Affiliate
Marketing, to help supplement my income.
And now I do this as well. It feels great to have
a purpose again.
