COS National Update:
On September 17, 2022, is Constitution Day!
Also known as Citizenship Day, Constitution Day
is an American holiday honoring the day 39 (our
Founding Fathers) delegates to the Constitutional
Convention signed the United States Constitution.
This historic date was September 17, 1787.
It has
been 235 years since the signing.
What do people do to celebrate Constitution Day?
Schools and libraries observe this day by having
special educational programs and activities which
help students learn about the Constitution. They
study subjects like the history of the Constitution,
the many important amendments, and the Bill of
Rights.
Do you know who wrote the Constitution?
James Madison is known as the Father of the
Constitution because of his pivotal role in the
document's drafting as well as its ratification.
Do you know who signed the Constitution first?
George Washington, as president of the
Convention, signed first, followed by the other
delegates, grouped by states in progression from
north to south.
Constitution Day is important because it is crucial
that American citizens remember what the
Founding Fathers went through to create the United
States of America. That includes many privileges
that other countries do not have.

Did you know that there is a Federal Law that
requires schools and Government Agencies to
teach the Constitution on September 17 of each
year?
SEC. 111. (1,2,b) The head of each Federal
agency or department shall-
(1) provide each new employee of the agency or
department with educational and training materials
concerning the United States Constitution
…. and
(2) provide educational and training materials
concerning the United States Constitution
…..
(b) Each educational institution that receives
Federal funds for a fiscal year shall hold an
educational program on the United States
Constitution
….
Since September 17 is on a Saturday this year
Constitution Week will be September 17 thru
September 24, 2022. When classes/presentations
can be held or any day in September 2022.
In conjunction with Convention of States (COS)
and Patriot Academy we want the Constitution to
be taught in every school and every congregation
across our beautiful nation.

COS Utah Sept. Update:
Your homework for September 2022 is
to contact your Legislator.
Elected officials represent our community and our
interests, so let them know who you are and what
you care about! Take time to introduce yourself
and your organization to public officials serving
your community
– including both federal and state
representatives.
Make an appointment and discuss:
1- Their stance on Convention of States.
2- What Bills they are working on that COS
could possibly get behind and support.
3- Notify your District Captain, or Regional
Captain, or Legislative Liaison with the
results after contacting them.

Monthly Spotlight:
Name: Wolfgang Ziegler
COS Title: COS Georgia Legislative Liaison
City raised in: Grayslake Illinois
City current living in: Savannah, Georgia and
soon Kanab, (Utah has already adopted him)
Favorite Hobbies: Shooting sports, pistols, long
range rifle, trap and skeet.
What brought you to COS (Your Why): I came
to COS because COS is actually doing something
legislatively to create change. Far too many
organizations complain, valid complaints in many
cases, but other than making those complaints
heard, do nothing to change what they are
complaining about. Seeking to pass the COS
initiative legislatively shows strength and a level of
organization which politicians take notice of, and if
they don’t it’s to their detriment. In passed states,
exercising the ability to help pass legislation that
not only further emphasizes COS’s strength but
shows our determination in seeking a return to
representative government, along with our
determination in citizens for self-governance. I was
also tired of yelling at the television, waiting for
others to do something, when it’s really my
responsibility as a citizen who loves their country.
I’m sick and tired of the lethargy of the
overwhelming number of otherwise patriotic
Americans, and I have always been taught to, see
a problem, be part of the solution.
Inspirational thought: Excuses are the nails that
hold together the house of failure.
More about You: I was a professional airline pilot
for Pan Am and then transitioned into law
enforcement.
