COS National Update:
Stop AT&T’s DirecTV’s
Censorship of NEWSMAX!
Last month,
AT&T’s DirecTV dropped the popular
conservative channel from live TV in a shocking
display of bias and suppression. Newsmax is a
great distributor of information about COS, not to
mention a wonderful alternative to the mainstream
media. This is yet another blatant attempt to
silence those who oppose the corrupt political
establishment. We must speak up while we still
have a voice. An attack on Newsmax is an attack
on all freethinking Americans.
The political establishment won’t rest until we all
have been SILENCED. DirecTV carries 22 liberal
news channels yet is cracking down on one of the
only conservative alternatives.
Join us in telling AT&T, Big Tech, and the federal \\
government that we want Newsmax back!
COS Executive Summary
Did you learn anything about Article V when you
were in school?
If you’re like most people, the
answer is probably no.
So, it’s no surprise that
most people aren’t aware that the Founding
Fathers gave the states the authority and
responsibility to propose Amendments through a
Convention of States as their last check and
balance on federal power.
We
wanted to provide you with a document that’s
become one of our favorites around here.
It’s the
Executive Summary for COS.
If you only have time to read one thing, this four-
page document explains all of the key information
you need to know about why nearly every
prominent conservative spokesperson is saying
that calling a Convention of States may be our best
chance at saving the republic.

COS National & Utah Update:
FIVE MYTHS ABOUT AN
ARTICLE V CONVENTION
Around here, we’re hard at work to call the
first-ever Convention of States to propose
amendments that limit the power and
jurisdiction of the federal government, and
place fiscal restraints and term limits on its
officials
— like Congress!
As a grassroots movement, our victories are
only possible because of YOU. Thank you for
standing with us and engaging in the fight!

Legislative Liaison:
The Utah 2023 Legislative Sessions started on
Tuesday, January 17, 2023, and ends on Friday,
March 3, 2023.
COS Utah was able to visit the Utah Capitol on
Tuesday, January 31st.
Brenda Karlin and Lauren (Ren) Moye from the
COS National T
eam led Utah’s Surge, with the
help of Candace Daly. We had dedicated and
curious COS Utah team members excitedly
participating in a tour of the Capitol.
We were privileged to meet with a number of
our legislators -
Representative Quinn Kotter, a Freshman in
the Utah House of Representatives from West
Valley, Utah. A former COS activist now
turned elected legislator, who spoke with the
group about his motivation to ultimately run for
the legislature.
The highlight of Tuesday’s Utah Capitol COS
Surge was the meeting with Senator Vickers,
our Senate Majority Leader, as he gave the
group the inside story on how he was able to
get the resolution passed in 2019, making Utah
the 14th “passed state.”
And his staff was kind enough to take us on a
tour of the Capitol.
Lara Christensen, Maurine Miles and their
Senator Keith Grover.
Of course, the key to any successful Surge
event is contact with individual legislators. An
informal poll showed that there were mixed
results. Most elected officials made
themselves available to their constituents;
others didn’t.
Our presence at the Capitol is an important
event that we look forward to every year as we
continue to make efforts to protect our
Resolution’s passing as well as inform new
legislators of the importance of a Convention of
States.

Our legislative team is working to get national
approval to support legislation that fulfills the
values of COS. We are excited to see the
action that is playing out in this year’s
legislative session in protecting individual
liberties, school choice, and pro-life legislation.
And our COS Utah Team looks forward to next
year to make the annual Surge even better.

Last Month Events:
On Thursday, January 26th ,2023
in Provo City Library,
And
Friday, January 27th, 2023
in South Jordan Library
–
It was
“all hands-on deck” as Utah activists
conducted the first two kick off 2023
“Meet &
Greets
.”
With Bill Pressgrove as star of the show as he
presented an introductory slide show on COS.
Maurine Miles and Lara Christensen greeted
and took tickets from attendees.
The events were the brainchild of Lara
Christensen, but it required the help of all our
Utah Team to successfully pull these meetings
off two nights in a row.
Nichole Klosowiak, Scott Pratt, and Barbara
Metaxas were on the panel to answer
questions during the last 30 minutes of the
evening.
Richard Knapp was our master of ceremonies.
While we didn’t convert the entire state in one
evening, we found James Beer, and bonded
with others who already knew about COS.
The experience of working together bonded us
and left us all feeling like the events were most
successful.

Monthly Spotlight:
Name: Lara Christensen
COS Title: District Captain in training HD-61.
City raised in: Ogden, Utah
City current living in: Orem, Utah - However,
I have found most of my adventures as I lived
in Boston, Arizona, Idaho, and Hawaii.
Favorite Hobbies: My interests since High
School have always been centered around
God, family, and country. I have been reading,
going to all kinds of seminars for knowledge,
doing family history research, studying the
United States Constitution, and being involved
politically wherever I lived.
What brought you to COS (Your Why): To
preserve our Constitution, our great country of
freedom and liberty, and to protect our God
given rights under the Constitution, and Bill of
Rights. I truly believe it is the answer to help
our great Republic survive in the midst of the
current environment of attacks on our freedom
and liberty guaranteed under the document of
the Constitution our founding fathers gave us.

Inspirational thought:
“Every day is a new
life to a wise man.
”
More about You: #1. I have raised five
beautiful, talented daughters who actually
raised me and continue to support me in my
crazy life. I graduated from BYU with a degree
in Education and minor in Psychology. My
worst habit is listening daily to as many
conservative talk shows as I can fit in to my
day. I have fourteen grandchildren whom I
love dearly and pray they will hold fast against
all the evils around them.
#2. I like to travel and have been to Japan,
many European countries, Hawaii many times
(my fifth daughter was born there), and mostly
traveled to Sweden to do research on my
Swedish ancestry.
#3. I lived in Boston for 20 years. I was drawn
there by the spirit of my ancestors who lived
there, (and I feel that spirit living inside me).
They fought and died for our country, some
who came over on the Mayflower and some as
ministers from England who established Cape
Cod and all who had influence on the
establishing of our great country.
I have been active politically in all the states I
have lived in. In Boston and Utah I have been
a State Delegate. In Boston, I hosted and
organized a study five different times of the
Constitution for the National Center of
Constitutional Studies. Organized an expo
with conservative speakers and booths to
promote our American values
and promoted and organized many more
events. In Arizona and Idaho I was active in
groups of similar nature.
I hope to continue this fight to preserve our
Republic forever and ever.
My Moto: Never give up, Stand up, We have a
Republic to save!
