On Thursday, March 17 Convention of States volunteers made our first foray into the legislative offices in Dover. While a few patriots sported St. Paddy's green, all of us made sure to show off the essential COS button.

The first event of the day was a tour of Legislative Hall, where we learned about the history of the state capital. One of the most significant stories was of Caesar Rodney, a resident of Dover, and his heroic ride to Philadelphia on eve of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Without Rodney to break Delaware's tie in the vote to break away from Great Britain, American history could very well have gone in a very different direction.

After the tour, many of the volunteers had meetings with their legislators. We handed out literature and COS-branded pens and urged our representatives to lend their support to our resolution.

An unplanned but providential discussion occurred in the hallway as the COS volunteers ran into Sen. Bryant Richardson of Seaford, who represents the 21st Senate district. Sen. Richardson is a enthusiastic supporter of Convention of States and encouraged the team to continue to build momentum up and down the state.

At 2:00 the legislative meetings convened, and a number of the volunteers made their presence known by attending the sessions in the chambers.

We are planning to have a regular presence at Legislative Hall over the coming months. The next scheduled group event is April 14. We hope you will join us!
