Convention of States New Jersey made their first-ever trip to the New Jersey State House in Trenton on Thursday, May 16.
Over 30 volunteers and supporters attended the event, which provided a very strong show of support from the grassroots for Convention of States.

The event started at 11:00am in Room 209 of the State House. Primary Sponsors Senator Joseph Pennacchio (LD-26) and Assemblyman Robert Auth (LD-39) addressed the attendees, explaining why they support SCR-28/ACR-73, the New Jersey version of the COS resolution.
Assemblywoman Linda Carter (LD-22) and Assemblyman Jay Webber (LD-26) also visited Room 209 to speak with constituents and volunteers about COS.
“I was delighted to be able to join the COS New Jersey team for their first Trenton Day event. It was an incredibly successful day. New Jersey has a great team of dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers who are committed to the cause of liberty.” -Monica Sellers, Regional Director
After meeting some legislators in the room, volunteers stood in the hallway connecting the State House and Annex buildings to catch the attention of legislators or staff members as they traveled to committee hearings.
“I was not sure what to expect from COS Trenton Day. I had just heard about it, and I only knew that the group wanted to help change our country. I was blown away of how much we can do using Article V. I want to be apart of the grassroots movement changing our great nation and bring the power back to the people. I am looking forward to seeing us do just that.” -Tess Pschunder, District Captain applicant
In total, volunteers spoke with 11 legislators and have begun to develop relationships with them in hopes of winning their support for ACR 73 and SCR 28.
“I came to COS Trenton Day, because I felt it was time to step off the sidelines and get involved. For years all I did was read and listen to people complain, including myself. I saw the Trenton Day as a chance to do more, and it was awesome. I enjoyed meeting and discussing issues with other COS volunteers. It was my first time meeting with our representatives, and it was better than I expected.” -Jim Collinsworth, Jr., DC applicant
This was an excellent first visit to the State House for COS New Jersey. Not only have legislators been put on notice, but the grassroots foundation was strengthened by the support of the people who attended. Bigger and better things are on the horizon for New Jersey, and the second visit will be even bigger!
