Who We Are
Our country needs us. It's the way our Founders designed our nation to work—the American Creed, a government of the people, by the people, for the people.
COS volunteers are passionate patriots who love our country and work daily to fight off the demoralizers, destabilizers, and disruptors. While we tend to be a conservative group, due to our founding and endorsers, our solution is 100% nonpartisan and we welcome all colleagues, regardless of politics. Our mission is to build an engaged army of self-governing grassroots activists and this means teaching each other how to engage with local politics where our voices are loudest and have the greatest impact on day-to-day life.
What Is a Convention of States?
Our primary goal is to use Article V of our Constitution to call an Article V Convention of States for the purpose of limiting federal terms, spending, and jurisdiction. At the convention, commissioners from every state will create, debate, and vote (1 vote per sovereign State) to propose constitutional amendments to return our Constitution to its original balance-of-power structure which has been slowly eroded over many decades. We know exactly how the convention will run because we have conducted 42 or more conventions throughout history. Article V of our Constitution provides clear threshold criteria for both calling the convention and subsequently ratifying amendments.
We also have an aspirational goal to inspire a spiritual and political reawakening in America. Our founders came to “The New Land” because of religious persecution and while they created a nation where we all enjoy freedom of religion, they kept God very present in the process with prayer. Prayer is still practiced by our federal and state governments and God is honored by many government creations, like our covenants, pledge of allegiance, money, state seals, and more. Our nation was created for a moral and religious people.
