The September meeting was packed for our two speakers, Dr. Tommy French and former state Rep. Woody Jenkins, and I was encouraged to see new patriot faces in the crowd.
Dr. Tommy French began the evening with a history lesson, from a Christian perspective, on the values that our Founding Fathers brought to this nation in its early days. His teachings explain why modern Christians should be involved in the fight against the evil propagated by enemies of this country. We must unite and fight for Christian principles and the unalienable rights God gives us, not government.
Next, the Honorable Woody Jenkins, former Louisiana legislator, elected president of the COS Foundation simulated convention in Williamsburg, VA, in August of this year gave insight into the processes involved in amending the U.S. Constitution. What he experienced taught him that a runaway convention is a total myth. He gave numerous examples of the tough negotiations for each amendment introduced by representatives of 49 states in attendance. The discussions were fruitful and vigorous, though at times hotly contested.
Woody's in-depth analysis gave us a better view of the arduous task of 50 states coming together and proposing amendments. He pointed out that the simulation demonstrated that such a procedure can and will be successful.
Thanks to our guest speakers for their insights and presentations. Those who attended were rewarded with more knowledge of our struggle to regain self-governance.
