Memorial Day weekend means it's time to head outdoors, spend time with the family, dust off the grill, and celebrate. A day off work, but do you know why?
In the famous song, Some Gave All, by Billy Ray Cyrus says,
“All gave some and some gave all
And some stood through for the red, white and blue
And some had to fall
And if you ever think of me
Think of all your liberties and recall
Some gave all”
This is supposed to be the day that we honor the brave men and women that died in service, both deployed overseas or in training and in service to the U.S.
It says it all in the oath that is given every day by every person wishing to enlist in the Military: “I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic…”
This oath means so much to my family because it's not just one that was given by my son, husband, father, father-in-law, and grandfathers, but it's an unsaid oath given by the whole family. It's not an oath that goes away when you leave service, but one that never ends.
Unfortunately, we have false leaders and domestic enemies today in the U.S. We must show the billionaires and our legislators that some of us have hung up those uniforms, but our oath doesn’t end when they get hung up. We’re not going away. We’ll continue to fight for our country through Convention of States, where Article V of the Constitution gives us the right to petition the legislature for Amendments. We are pushing for three very important ones too:
- Establish Term Limits
- Mandate Fiscal Responsibility
- Stop Government Overreach
Please stop where you see Convention of States displays and sign a petition. We are also in need of volunteers for our grassroots activism. Perhaps you are concerned enough about the path America is on to join us.
Thank you again for all your service and sacrifice to this wonderful country!
