While the hearth warmed the McPhersons' living room, Convention of States Arkansas volunteers from Regions 2 and 5 were enkindled through sharing and planning.

The first multi-region meeting was conducted by Katherine Del Conte, State Grassroots Coordinator and Region 2 Captain. The meeting allowed volunteers to get acquainted and strategize for the coming year.

Jack Gilbert noted the rapid growth in petition signers.

Attendees included a Follow-Up Team member, two Regional Captains, four District Captains (two of whom are new), two Content Writers (both new), and two new Volunteers.

DCs: Shondra Hickerson, Chris Del Conte, Stacey Rumph, and Linda Gilbert

The meeting began with a prayer by Chris Del Conte. Brad McPherson led the Pledge of Allegiance. Members introduced themselves and their sparks for COS.

COS Legislative Liaison Randy Alexander joined the group via FaceTime to present strategies for local involvement. He noted the importance of party influence on those in office or running for office.

Alexander also shared information on upcoming bills and encouraged all COS volunteers to be present at the Capitol in mid-February for Surge Day.

Katherine Del Conte then offered ideas on how to stay informed, presented actions for volunteers, shared available resources, as well as ideas for community civic involvement, including service on local boards/committees and Constitution Day activities in the schools.

The two Content Writers shared ideas on a quarterly newsletter to be posted on the COS Arkansas webpage. The newsletter will include COS updates, events, ways to volunteer and make their voices heard, and interviews of both legislators and COS state officers.

Newest volunteers: Brad McPherson, Shondra Hickerson, Michael and Angel Stromley, Stacey Rumph, and Suzanne McPherson

Katherine will be hosting at least five more regional meetings across the state in the next several months. The goal is to inflame more volunteers in pursuit of our COS mission.
