Nancy Pelosi and her minions have just unveiled the proposed rules for the 117th Congress, and they are a sign as to how they plan to dictate procedures in the House of Representatives.
Until now, every member had the right to share opinions, bring forth new ideas, and represent and defend the part of the country that elected them. That’s how this government has worked since its inception.
Not any more. According to ranking member Tom Cole of Oklahoma, the new rules contain the procedure of “eliminating the longstanding motion to recommit in its current form and censoring opposing ideas.”
So if she (or anyone from her party) hates an idea, Pelosi has the right to silence and punish Republicans by “overturning now-inconvenient precedents and traditions of the House.” No room for dissent here.
Censoring free speech would become the new norm for the party in charge. Why explain or defend your decisions and votes to the people with facts? I guess feelings are better at creating laws anyway.
Any member of Congress who posts or shares what someone else “thinks” is not true or just inappropriate can get shut down. No more arguments or more opposing opinions, just one thought for all.
Our current Madam Speaker has also called for setting aside gender specific pronouns. You know, those horrible identifying words that let people know if you are a son, a daughter, father, mother, and so on. Let’s just get rid of them all in the name of diversity. If this was a problem before, I just propose we call everyone “it.” That should make Congress work better.
A Convention of States and the proposed amendments will limit Speaker Pelosi. It would limit Congress and their power. It also would prevent long-standing members from gaining the ability to do this kind of damage to our country by limiting how long they can be in Washington.
Your voice counts. Your signature makes a difference. Call your state representatives and urge them to pass legislation to convene a Convention of States. Do this before the damage our federal government is permanent.
