Organizational Overview

The Convention of States Project comprises both a 501©(3) entity, Convention of States Foundation and a 501©(4) entity, Convention of States Action.

Position Overview

Work closely with the Chief Operating Officer and the executive team to develop, oversee, maintain, and assist with efficient and effective operations, processes, and systems to ensure success and growth of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Provides day-to-day leadership and management in a way that fits the vision, values, mission, and goals of the organization.
  • Develops productive relationships with department heads and key staff.
• Designs and implements business strategies, plans, procedures and tools/software.
• Innovates and improves accountability processes to ensure success.
  • Includes SMART  (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Timely) goal setting and evaluation strategies for both performance and growth.
• Assists with oversight and management of daily operations in areas including:
  • Finance and Budget
  • Technology
  • Communications
  • Marketing and Advertising
  • Grassroots Recruiting, Training and Operations
  • Mentoring
  • Legal compliance
  • Human Resources
  • Legislative Affairs
  • Political Affairs
  • Events
  • External Relations
  • COS Store and sales
• Assists with semi-annual strategic planning for all COS Departments
  • Participates in the follow through and evaluation of strategic planning. 
  • Reports on the progress of the teams, as requested or appropriate.

Pay

Convention of States offers pay commensurate with experience and skills. This is a full-time salaried position that includes health benefits and paid time off.
