You learn something new every day. Over the weekend I was holed up in my writer’s retreat, trying to pound out a novel in 72 hours. It worked. I did it.

When I emerged from the haze, I discovered that Wisconsin //really// likes to set barnyard fowl ablaze. Maybe it’s a farewell to the last days of summer heat, but when we cook a chicken, we cook it good.

Convention of States has long made their presence felt at this event and would be pleased to see our supporters and grassroots volunteers there.\\

On September 8 from Noon to 4:00 p.m., all are welcome to join the poultry cremation fun at Allen Kulwicki Park in Greenfield. Scorching chickens is a 50-year tradition in Milwaukee county designed to meet new people, network with old friends, and eat great-tasting food together.\\

The picnic is free. Bring your friends, children, and if you’re really brave, you could drag along that uncle you’ve been trying to persuade to the right side, where he’ll get the privilege of being surrounded by reasonable people (apart from the fowl decimation part) with a plan to save this country for future generations.\\

Mrs. Southeastern Wisconsin (Cheryl McCrary) will win him over with her moving rendition of the national anthem, while elected officials and speakers will use their magnetic charisma to engage him in grassroots activism, all before the last chicken feather flies. He won't know what hit him. Promise.\\

Please bring a dish to share. While there will be seating, I strongly encourage bringing a lawn chair. The area is a public park with lots parking. Please check-in at entry.
