With it, the gun-grabber lobby and its media mouthpieces will leap back into action. They will exploit parents’ understandable fears about school shootings to gain support for what they insist is “commonsense gun control.”\\ \\ Instead of supposedly “commonsense” restrictions on self-defense, we are promoting commonsense liberty.\\ \\ It’s commonsense not to let government have a monopoly on firepower. History teaches that when those in power are the only ones with guns, they quickly dispense with representing their fellow citizens and instead begin commanding their subjects. When no one can shoot back, it is not the freedom of the rulers but that of the ruled which first is restricted, then eliminated.\\ \\ It’s commonsense that those in power will use their positions to stay in power. Washington’s elites want to whittle away the Second Amendment so that they can do the same with the First Amendment. Once defenseless, you cannot stand up to those denying free speech, freedom of conscience, or the freedom to assemble and peaceably protest.\\ \\ If one can’t speak freely, believe freely, or protest freely, it’s not the powerful who suffer, only the powerless. That’s why Washington’s gun-grabbers will not be satisfied until law-abiding citizens are, in effect, disarmed.\\ \\ The Framers had a commonsense understanding of how power corrupts those holding it. That is why in Article V they provided a commonsensical way of rebalancing power from Washington back to We the People.\\ \\ Convention of States Virginia is working to build its grassroots army by winning over the hearts and minds of law-abiding gun enthusiasts and business owners now under relentless attack by Washington’s gun-grabbers.\\ \\ To do so, we have a presence at every gun show that we can. We educate patrons about how the Constitution’s Article V amendment-proposing Convention of States can stop those seeking to transform them into easily commanded subjects.\\ \\ At gun shows in Roanoke, Richmond, and Fredericksburg this year, COS Virginia has signed up over 500 new grassroots activists.\\ \\ This effort requires the help of volunteers like you. We need a few hours of your weekend time September 28-30 at the [[https://www.showmastersgunshows.com/nation-s-gun-show-.html|Nation’s Gun Show]] (Chantilly, VA). Please contact Regional Captain Harry Herchert () to volunteer.
