Western Civilization rests on a core philosophy that is not purely materialist but rather recognizes that non-material things like knowledge, truth, justice, and motivation are real and are of greater importance than the purely material. Christianity and Judaism are woven into the fabric of capitalism, free market economics, and the rule of law. Christianity and Judaism provide the core ethical principles that value individual rights and freedoms, such as the freedom of expression and the right to own property. They are the basis of science and reason because they rest on the rational concept of the **//unmoved mover//** who created a cosmos governed by laws, and they reject the ideas of multitudes of mythical gods, or the idea that objects such as the sun or the moon, or the forces of nature like storms or rivers or thunder could be gods. The Book of Genesis provides a rational and reasonable explanation for the existence of all things without a meaningless mythology of millions of years, and not based upon a pantheon of mythical gods with human-like characteristics. Exodus provides a basis for natural law, freedom, respect for all persons, and the rule of law, as opposed to the rule by the powerful. Should we turn from Christianity, we are left without the ethical foundation that underpins the Bill of Rights and a Constitutional Republic. Socialism and Marxism always depend upon rule by the powerful who control people to conform to their commands. A government that is too big and does too many things consumes your freedom. Government that restricts the free flow of information manipulates the will of the people and molds the outcome of elections. A government characterized by people who stay in power for decades, and operates without limits, is not a republican form of government; it is rather a practical monarchy, and you are its subjects. The benefits of Christianity and its influence over culture, government and society are overwhelmingly positive and immeasurably good irrespective of a particular person's belief in Jesus the Messiah. You enjoy the benefits of living in a Judeo-Christian culture and country, but only for so long as you embrace them and advocate for them in the face of the destructive forces of socialist and Marxist authoritarian atheism.
