No Created: 2024-07-29 20:08:16 Updated: 2024-11-04 03:00:00 Published: 2024-07-29 03:00:00 Converted: 2025-04-14T21:32:01.067970572 ---- **Be an informed voter. ** There was a time when I was young and ignorant and didn’t know what I was doing in the voting booth.  I would vote for a name that looked good to me or a member of a political party I thought I trusted.  Obviously, I didn’t take the process seriously.  It was about as worthless as not voting at all.  Well, I’m older now and, depending on who you talk to, I may not be as ignorant.  I learned that it is important to know who and what you are voting for.  \\ **Do your research.**   There are plenty of websites that will tell you about the background of a candidate or a proposition.  But be careful.  A new candidate’s web page may tell you what they want you to know about them.  Dig deeper.  Some voters like to vote strictly for the candidates in their preferred party.  While this is an acceptable process, you may want to check an incumbent’s voting record.  Though they represent your party of choice, they may have sided with another party when voting on proposed legislation that differs with your position.  To research those who are presently serving in the state legislature, it is recommended that you review the bills they have sponsored and voted on by going to the Arizona State Legislature roster page at https:%%//%%www.azleg.gov/memberroster  \\ **Just vote will you. ** I have heard most of the excuses not to vote.  I say ‘most’ because I’m sure that there may be some I haven’t heard.  The most common one: “I don’t believe my vote matters”.  So, I always ask...  If ten thousand would-be voters thought that and didn’t vote, would that seem okay with you?  Many elections, even at the federal level, are decided with a slimmer margin.  Another excuse I’ve heard is: “The election is rigged so why should I vote?  They’re going to put in who they want anyway”.  One of the major issues in this election cycle is election integrity, so if you vote for someone who promises to secure that process, we may be able to have cleaner elections.  There are more watchdogs in this election than ever before.  If you don’t vote, you may be contributing to the problem.    \\ **COS Arizona Position ** Convention of States Arizona is a grass-roots organization advocating for the application of the second paragraph in Article 5 of the United States Constitution.  This action allows the states to act in the same manner as the U.S. Congress to add amendments to the U.S. Constitution.   Our forefathers saw fit to add this paragraph to Article 5 to prevent federal government over-reach which is presently happening.  We are not affiliated with any political party.  ‘We the People’ are attempting to return governmental responsibilities back to the states where they belong.  If you believe in this process of limiting the unconstitutional power of the federal government, go to our web page and sign a statement of support.  If you would like to get involved with the efforts of the Convention of States Arizona, please contact Deborah McEwen, Arizona’s Grassroots Coordinator at (520) 310-0824.
