Packing the Federal Judiciary at all levels with left-wing judges is the cornerstone of the Marxist Democrat Party strategy to permanently transform America. If they win the presidency in 2024, they will have succeeded in packing the Federal Judiciary by the end of the term on January 20, 2029.//\\ \\ //This process began in earnest with Barack Obama. He came into office determined to fill the judiciary with left-wing judges, and he succeeded, as virtually every one of his appointments has revealed their bias and leftist ideology while serving on the various courts. Joe Biden has followed in Obama’s footsteps by nominating equally if not more ideologically bound left-wing judges.//\\ \\ //The following federal judges are not animated by upholding the law or the Constitution but instead are motivated by political considerations and their allegiance to statist ideology. // * //District Judge Beryl Howell (Obama appointee) coordinated with the Department of Justice to deny Trump his constitutional rights and indict him on specious criminal charges pertaining to document retention and January 6th, 2021. She deliberately, knowingly and egregiously violated his due process rights.// * //District Judge Tanya Chutkin, (Obama appointee) who is overseeing the trial of Donald Trump in Washington D.C., has unapologetically made numerous incendiary comments about Trump nor has she hidden her bias and willingness to work with the Justice Department in delaying trials and sentencing January 6th protesters to extraordinary long and unjustified jail terms. She is now, at the behest of the Biden Justice Department, accelerating the trial date for Trump in order to torpedo his candidacy and ability to win the general election.// * //District Judge Beth Lapson Freeman (Obama appointee) claimed that an ordinance passed by the San Jose, California city council mandating all gun owners in the city be required to purchase liability insurance did not violate the 2nd Amendment, thus placing an impediment to gun ownership in clear violation of the language of the 2nd Amendment which states: “… the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.”// * //District Judge Jon Tigar (Obama appointee) ruled that U.S. immigration authorities cannot deny asylum to migrants regardless of how they arrive at the U.S.-Mexico border nor can they be forced to wait in Mexico, thereby eviscerating any viable immigration enforcement at the Southern border.// * //District Court Judge Deborah Boardman, (Biden appointee) recently ruled that parents do not have the right to opt their children out of mandatory LGBTQ+ lessons or classes in public schools in a gross violation of their First Amendment rights.// //There are 667 District Court judges throughout the United States. Obama and Biden (to date) have appointed 371 with 63 vacancies that Biden will, with a Democrat-controlled Senate, fill before the end of his term. Thus, between Obama and Biden they will have appointed 434 judges or nearly two thirds of all District Court seats.//\\ \\ //The only check on the District Court judges are the Circuit Courts of Appeal and ultimately the Supreme Court. However, the appeals process is lengthy and oftentimes drawn out. For example, if Trump were to be found guilty of any of the innumerable charges against him, he would almost certainly win an appeal, but by the time the appeal is heard or ruled on the 2024 election would be far in the rear-view mirror.//\\ \\ //Currently among Circuit Court of Appeals judges nearly, half have been appointed by Republicans as have six of the nine Supreme Court justices, which is why the Circuit Courts, and the Supreme Court are currently the last bastion of constitutional governance and liberty as well as the primary target of the American Marxists.//\\ \\ //Based on historical averages, if Biden or any Democrat wins the 2024 election he or she will appoint upwards of 170 District Court judges and nearly 35+ Circuit Court of Appeals judges by 2028. Resulting in as many as 595 District Court judges, or 89% of the bench, and 126 Circuit Court of Appeals judges, or 70% of the bench, being appointed by a Marxist- controlled White House since 2008 -- thus transforming the entire Federal Judiciary into a de facto enforcement arm of the Democrat Party.//\\ \\ //Additionally, the two oldest and most conservative Supreme Court justices, Clarence Thomas and Sam Alito, will be 80 and 78 years old respectively by 2028, thus opening up the distinct possibility of the Democrats appointing their replacements, thus swinging the Court to the radical Left and abetting the implementation of the American Marxist political and societal agenda.//\\ \\ //The prospect of a grossly compromised judicial system is the death knell for this or any civilized nation, as injustice will be directed at virtually anyone who opposes the policies of a one-party socialist state or who dares to contest any manipulated election the party in power wins. Like grains of sand in an hourglass, moments blur into memories, yet here we are, on the brink of a new year. As we stand at the threshold of December, it feels as though the year only just unfolded its wings, but in fact, has soared into the sunset.\\ \\ This past year with Convention of States Action (COSA) might not have witnessed additional states passing our resolutions, but it was a year of fortification. It was a time when teams grew stronger, and more hearts aligned with the cause. Despite witnessing the erosion of our nation’s moral fabric, we saw more eyes opened and more hearts awakened. Intertwining our COSA Volunteers’ passion for teaching the Constitution with the framework of the Patriot Academy Coaches Program, the number of coaches grew to over 25,000. Our momentum, though not sprinting, continues to build. With nineteen states behind the resolution, only fifteen more states stand between us and the goal. This movement, envisioned by the Founders, beckons - a testament to their foresight.\\ \\ In the words of John Quincy Adams: “Duty is ours, results are God’s,” is a reminder that amidst the storms and schemes, we must stand patient and resolute. Amidst the clamor and chaos, be still, for a greater plan is at play.\\ \\ “He says, Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”—Psalms 46: 10 It’s a call to anchor ourselves in faith, to rise above the racket of opposition, and to remember that there’s a higher purpose guiding our efforts.\\ \\ In the face of adversity, it’s easy to falter, to become agitated or disillusioned. But the blueprint for our resolution lies within the very Constitution that birthed this great nation. Merry Christmas, and may the year ahead be adorned with blessings and joy, as we march forward, faithful servants to a cause greater than ourselves. {{https://content.conventionofstates.com/cosaction-prod/public/content/images/76544/76544_original.jpg?300x36}} {{https://content.conventionofstates.com/cosaction-prod/public/content/images/76551/76551_original.jpg?667x317}} **COS Tennessee 2023 Status Update ** By Ramona DeSalvo Tennessee Convention of States Action is active and thriving and has grown substantially since the Convention of States Resolution, SJR67, was passed in 2016 by the 109th General Assembly.  Fiscal restraint, term limits for federal officials, and limiting the power and jurisdiction of the federal government are more important today than it ever has been in our country’s history.  Through its thousands of volunteers statewide, COSA TN is fighting to restore the balance of power between the states and the federal government.\\ \\ Between January 2022 and November 2023, the 67,000 petition signers grew to over 70,000 petition signers.  These concerned citizens are letting you – our elected representatives – know that we want you to govern us rather than those faceless, nameless bureaucrats in D.C. that regulate every aspect of our lives, from light bulbs to toilets to what pronouns we are allowed to speak.  Ten years ago, COSA TN was spurred into action due to the soft tyranny of the federal government.  That soft tyranny has hardened into strong-arm tactics of over-regulation, federally sanctioned destruction of our nation’s traditions and institutions, and the weaponization of the government to silence those who wish to protect and defend the U.S. Constitution.  Against this power, its citizens often feel helpless.  COSA gives Tennesseans an opportunity to learn how to be engaged at the state and local levels.\\ \\ **What has COS been up to in 2023?**  It’s more than one might expect.  * COSA volunteers have organized block walking campaigns across Tennessee to knock on doors, to meet their neighbors, and to let them know how to get their voices heard in the legislature. * COSA volunteers have held countless meetings weekly in restaurants, churches, gun shows, fairs, coffee shops, festivals, car shows, and other venues for the same purpose: to reignite self-governance and volunteer activism.  * COSA volunteers educate citizens about forming productive relationships with their legislator- neighbors who speak for them when passing laws or resolutions. **What’s next in 2024? ** * COSA volunteers will return to the General Assembly to meet the new lawmakers and to build relationships with those who were not in the legislature when SJR 67 was passed on February 4, 2016. * COSA volunteers will be vigilant and work to avoid possible rescission efforts. * COSA volunteers will work with lawmakers to discuss why a single-topic convention (like balanced budget or term limits) are unnecessary, as those topics already are embodied in the SJR 67. The time and cost of calling a convention should not be wasted on a single issue that will not remedy the dire straits in which we find ourselves. * COSA volunteers will follow legislation and let lawmakers know their positions. * COSA volunteers will talk to lawmakers about a proposed Model Faithful Commissioner resolution to give guidance for how a convention will operate. In 2023, the Convention of States Foundation hosted a simulated Convention of States in historic Williamsburg, Virginia, with participants from 49 states, including Rep. Dennis Powers. The participants convened a convention, created rules and committees to conduct business, and then proposed amendments.  A simulated convention also was held in 2017.  For those who question how it will work, watch how it worked here:  [[https://www.cossimulation2023.org/|https:%%//%%www.cossimulation2023.org/ ]]\\ \\ It is time to hold a convention of the states, and Tennessee must be ready.  Our recently sworn-in Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, was a Louisiana lawmaker, who initially opposed the COS resolution in his state, but came to become an ardent advocate for calling a convention based on the COS resolution.  Louisiana is one of the 19 states that already passed the resolution.  Thirty-four states are needed to call the convention to propose amendments “to this Constitution” (see Art. V), and 38 states are required for any amendment to be adopted.  A mere 13 states can defeat any proposed amendment.  And no, a convention of the states cannot throw out the existing Constitution; it can propose amendments to the existing Constitution.\\ \\ Speaker Johnson recently spoke in the U.S. House about the need for this solution to our national security risk as we face over $33 TRILLION in debt.  The states can seize back their power.  It is the only lawful, Constitutional choice we have.  D.C. will never fix itself.  \\ \\ COSA Tennessee is a team of dedicated volunteers who want to preserve our Republic and restore the balance of power.  Please review the information provided. DeSalvo, State Director for Legislative Action and \\ Jim MacDonald, Tennessee State Communications Coordinator\\ \\  As the fifth state to pass the COSA resolution in 2016, Surge Day started for the Tennessee team in 2015. Every year since, volunteers from across the state have traveled to Nashville to join COSA supporters for the opening day of the General Assembly, which, this year, convenes at noon on Tuesday, January 9, 2024.\\ \\  As in years past, COSA leaders, volunteer activists, and citizens first will meet at the Cordell Hull Building, 425 Rep. John Lewis Way N. (formerly Fifth Avenue), where we will greet everyone, check our meeting schedules, hand out packets for delivery to the lawmakers, and then break away for meetings. COSA volunteers will have scheduled meetings with lawmakers, so if a supporter/volunteer arrives without making an appointment, he/she can join a meeting. Sometimes, lawmakers cannot commit to a specific time due to their fluid schedules and will allow “drop-in” meetings. We will have a list of “drop-ins,” so you can use these times to fit your schedule.  \\ \\ A COSA leader will be at each meeting to assist those attending for the first time or those who may be a little rusty at conferences with their legislators. Each meeting is set for ten minutes, so saying hello and quickly stating the reason for your visit is key to a successful stop. A supporter can join any of the scheduled meetings, but it is also very important for a supporter to visit his/her representative and senator as lawmakers like to meet their constituents.  At roughly 11:30, the teams will meet at the entrance to the tunnel, where we will walk over to the Capitol building and get seated as a group in the gallery. On the House side, COSA volunteers generally join the gallery to the left of the Speaker of the House. The session opens at noon, so we will want to be outside to greet members as they enter the chamber, and then volunteers can take their seats. Volunteers and supporters will return to Cordell Hull through the tunnel to resume afternoon meetings after the session. Once the volunteers and supporters have concluded their meetings, they are free to leave, meet with others for a meal, and enter information about the meetings in the COSA app.   Surge Day is a great way to make COSA visible at the Capitol, remind lawmakers we are watching what they do, and thank our lawmakers for their service to the State of Tennessee.
