A Constitutional Convention is a meeting to write a new constitution, creating a new government. An Article V convention for proposing Amendments is a meeting to propose amendments to the existing Constitution only for the limited topics called for by 2/3 of the states. The statement falsely equates an Article V convention with a new government. 2. "When needed, Congress has proposed amendments." False. Congress has proposed some needed amendments, but not every time one is needed. The Founders knew Congress would not propose amendments to fix itself, which is why they included the alternative method. 3. "This method allows for checks and balances." Misleading. It wrongly suggests that an Article V convention has no checks and balances. Both Congress-proposed and state convention-proposed amendments have the same check and balance. Ratification by 3/4 of the states is required for both. 4. "Keeping special interests out.” Misleading. Claiming Congress is keeping special interests out is ludicrous and hilarious.  5. “Could potentially change anything in the Constitution they want.” False. An Article V convention is limited to the topics in the application. Commissioners are subject to recall if they stray beyond the limited topics. Commissioners can also be subjected to criminal prosecution for violations via state law. 6. “Risking all of our fundamental rights and freedoms.” False. What is a risk is letting Congress continue to violate our rights and freedoms. Protecting our rights and freedoms is why the Founders included the Article V convention method for proposing amendments.  7. “Join us in defending our Constitution.” Yes, please join us in defending our Constitution.\\ \\ Perhaps some members of the “Defend Our Constitution” group have its defense as a goal. But the group is attempting to prevent the citizens from using a key constitutional defense method provided by the Founders. The group is evidently opposed to defending the Constitution.\\ \\ The video misrepresents an Article V convention for proposing amendments. It attempts to plant fear and ignorance.  The video’s authors are skilled in the art of deception. Please see [[https://conventionofstates.com/?ref=32551|Convention Of States Action]] to actually defend the Constitution, including Article V.
