But who is she? And why is she serving House District 16?  Wanting to give back and frustrated with both parties, Barbara is a thinker and likes to research. She was at a loss at what to do seeing all the problems, until she found Convention of States. At first she was a bit skeptical, but as she looked at our website, it seemed the best solution. An analyst by nature, she researches a subject and then finds the best solution. Convention of States is one tool to resolve many of the problems we face as a country, and she can give back to the community. Since that time she has been an engaged citizen and has actively worked to build her team in the Jacksonville area. She held monthly meetings at the South Mandarin library located at 12125 San Jose Blvd a few times. With every one now practicing social distancing, she is looking at holding a smaller home event. The library or restaurant meetings will hopefully resume in May. Barbara is using many of her skills to volunteer with Convention of States. Her public speaking experience includes board service for Women in Film, NY, ART, NY (a New York umbrella theatrical organization), and the corporate board of the American Management Association, which is a real estate board. She served as a Co-Chair for ACT for America in New York City. She has presented corporately for firms and organizations and has also managed theatrical productions as a Director. {{https://content.conventionofstates.com/cosaction-prod/public/content/images/26293/26293_original.JPG?325x323}}Barbara was a teacher and instructor in senior high schools and colleges intermittently. Barbara believes in solutions like the ones referenced in Texas Governor Greg Abbott's autobiography: congressional term limits, fiscal restraints on the federal budget, more power returned to the states, a lower proportion of workers residing in government, strong borders, protections for major industries from congressional power grabs, restoring the Commerce Clause, ensuring fair elections at every level, and preserving the Electoral College in presidential elections. Overall, Barbara is interested in working with any organization that seeks a closer following of the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and what our Founders intended.   Barbara suggests that any District Captain can easily replicate her initiatives to establish new relationships, attend events, gain partnerships, and cross-pollinate members. **Special thanks to the team members who have become engaged citizens:** > //Team Members helping with Veteran Events & Coalitions Coordinator & Team: //F//rederick Fulmer, Cliff Alsberg, Bruce Fouraker, Jon Goodman, and Tony Valenti// > > //Team Members helping with Fraternal Organizations: Karen Dilley, Melanie De Rio, Grace Skinner// > > //Team Members helping Educational Related Organizations: Barbara Zimmerman, Margaret Fulmer, Dan Goodman, Daneen Fortne// Here is a great list of organizations Barbara put together.
