It was the perfect place to gather for the National Day of Prayer in front of the towering monument that showcases our nation's core values -- morality, law, education, liberty, and above all – faith. These are the virtues that the Pilgrims brought with them to build a new society in America.\\ \\ **Forging Ahead in Faith**\\ At that time, this devout group of Christians (known as Separatists) were persecuted and declared to be criminals and social outcasts in England because they believed the Church of England had been irrevocably corrupted by politics and man-made, unbiblical rules. Many were arrested as traitors and thrown into filthy prisons or publicly hanged. Those who escaped and opted to sail to America had no idea what dangers lay ahead or even if they would survive the journey across the Atlantic Ocean. Their strong faith in God gave them the courage to take that risk.   \\  \\ **Facing New Challenges**\\ Four hundred years later, many Americans today can relate to the unfair treatment of these brave, law-abiding Pilgrims as our own government declares war on anyone who disagrees with the current administration. We are called domestic terrorists and white nationalists. We are shamed and canceled if we speak the truth. Our constitutional liberties are being trampled upon by Woke ideologies and a globalist agenda that is threatening to override our sovereign nation. We find ourselves living in a polarizing society that is intent on dividing us into warring tribes.  \\ \\ Like the Pilgrims, we are facing the choice to either comply and abide by the new “rules” of an overreaching federal government or resist and bring about change that restores the integrity of our roots. The Convention of States is our Mayflower crossing over the stormy Atlantic Ocean to bring power back to the states and to the people – where it belongs.    **Inspiration from Mark Meckler**\\ Both the location and day's events proved to be very meaningful reminders about the struggles, risks, and wisdom needed to create a better world for future generations. The National Prayer Day's events included inspirational {{https://content.conventionofstates.com/cosaction-prod/public/content/images/55098/55098_original.jpg?3104x2472}} music and speakers. Our very own **Mark Meckler**, Convention of States President, shared his personal testimony about how his faith developed over time through many trials and tribulations. “Things that seem bad can actually be a blessing because God has a plan for us,” stated Meckler.\\ \\  \\ Prior to the event, our team had the   pleasure to meet with Mark at lunch, as well as **Monica Sellers**, our amazing Convention of States Regional Director who plays a critical role in keeping our team connected with the Convention of State's national agenda.  {{https://content.conventionofstates.com/cosaction-prod/public/content/images/55026/55026_original.jpg?163x303}} \\ **Passing The Torch**\\ "This was a very special day for all who attended," said **Maureen Zollo**, CT COS State Director. “There was genuine fellowship and deeply felt emotions of love and respect for the sacred values that launched our country. We left filled with appreciation and inspiration for all that the Pilgrims did to create a New World based on faith in God.  Now it's our turn to pick up the torch that was gifted to us by our founding fathers and protect our Constitution and the integrity of our political system which has lost its way.”\\ \\  The commitment of Connecticut’s team was reignited. We returned to Connecticut with renewed enthusiasm to continue gathering signed petitions, hold town hall meetings and reach out to our legislators to gain their support for the Convention of States.  \\  \\ Currently, 19 states have passed the Convention of States resolution. Only 15 more are needed to trigger a convention.
