**Background:**\\
Calling an **Article V convention** to rein in our Federal Government has become an issue of urgency and it should become part of the Minnesota Party Platform.\\
\\
Our Founding Fathers, in Article V of the U.S. Constitution, gave "We the People" the authority to restore the proper balance of powers between federal, state, and local government and once again be governed with the consent of the governed. \\
 \\
Article V of the U.S. Constitution reads, “The Congress, whenever two thirds of both Houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose amendments to this Constitution, or, //on the application of the two thirds of the several states, shall call a convention for proposing amendments//, which in either case, shall be valid to all intents and purposes, as part of //this Constitution//, when ratified by the legislatures of three fourths of the several states."\\

**Caucus Resolution:\\
**BE IT RESOLVED that pursuant to article V of the Constitution of the United States, the Legislature of the state of Minnesota petitions the Congress of the United States of America, to call a convention of the states limited to proposing amendments to the Constitution of the United States that 1) impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, 2) limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government, and 3) limit the terms of office for its officials and for members of Congress.**\\
