This power is granted to them under Article V of the Constitution. It is not a constitutional convention and cannot throw out the Constitution. A Convention of States can only propose amendments that fit within the topic of the applications adopted by the state legislatures.\\ \\ **Why Call a Convention of States?** Washington, D.C. will never voluntarily relinquish power, no matter who is elected. It is time for American citizens to take a stand against tyranny and make a legitimate coordinated nationwide effort to curb the power of the federal government. Only a Convention of States has the constitutional power to repair the damage and halt the federal government from further eroding the liberties of the sovereign citizens.
