No Created: 2023-08-09 18:07:13 Updated: 2023-08-18 03:00:00 Published: 2023-08-11 00:00:00 Converted: 2025-04-14T21:26:19.585100223 ---- {{https://content.conventionofstates.com/cosaction-prod/public/content/images/71485/71485_original.jpg?720x86}} {{https://content.conventionofstates.com/cosaction-prod/public/content/images/71491/71491_original.jpg?400x267}} The Louisiana COS team hosted a Watch Party Friday, August 4.  Those invited to attend were treated to pancakes and bacon beginning at 7:30 in the morning.  After breakfast, attendees were encouraged to stay and watch as much of the COSF Simulated Convention as they wished.  {{https://content.conventionofstates.com/cosaction-prod/public/content/images/71486/71486_original.jpg?400x300}}\\ \\ The Simulated Convention was broadcast on six televisions, two of which were in a room where the unspoken rule was that comments would be “unspoken.” Those taking notes chose this room.\\ \\ The other room had four television screens on the walls of a casual cafe area.  Attendees who wanted to comment on testimonies for and against proposed amendments tended to choose this room.  Some lively discussions were held. {{https://content.conventionofstates.com/cosaction-prod/public/content/images/71488/71488_original.jpg?400x533}}\\ \\ Attendees especially enjoyed watching our two delegates from Louisiana.  It was actually Representative Ray Garofalo’s second time participating in a simulated convention, as he had participated in the first simulation.  It was the first experience for former Representative Woody Jenkins, who made Louisiana proud by being elected president of the Simulated Convention. {{https://content.conventionofstates.com/cosaction-prod/public/content/images/71489/71489_original.jpg?400x533}} According to DC Bobby Mills, "The Simulation showed for a second time that the run-away convention argument is an unfounded myth. The delegates were faithful to their commissions from their states, and the Convention organized itself upon agreed-upon rules of legislative order." Everyone who attended agreed that it was a day well spent.
