Going to class isn't something everyone gets excited about but when it comes to sharing information on the United States Constitution the Fitzgerald's are full of passion.

Harvey and Velva Fitzgerald are two active leaders in the South Dakota Convention of States team. This fall with the partnership of COS and Patriot Academy the Fitzgerald's found a new way to grow patriotism in their local communities. 

The two took the first Convention Alive class offered by Rick Green along with COS leaders. It did not take long for them to sign up as Constitution Coaches and start working to schedule their first class.

One of the biggest challenges they faced was finding a location that would allow for in-person gatherings with COVID-19 lockdowns. Thankfully, the state of South Dakota had been allowing local communities make the best decisions for their areas and Harvey and Velva were able to set up several classes throughout the Black Hills. 

By the end of their first six-week class they had over 40 students participating in the event. 

Before that first class was over, the Fitzgerald's scheduled another two classes in nearby communities. They had 18 people registered for the //Constitution Alive!// class in Custer and 20 registered in Hermosa.

As they wrapped up their final week in Hermosa, Harvey and Velva have several additional people requesting another class in the new year. Currently, the couple is gathering names for another class this spring.

What is the biggest pay off for the time committed to sharing the U.S. Constitution? Besides seeing people realize how far our American government has grown and overstepped boundaries over the years, many of these patriots are joining the Convention of States movement. Nearly all of the attending people have signed COS petitions to bring power back to we the people.
