In December 1862, the Union suffered 13,000 casualties when General Burnside repeatedly sent his soldiers on futile up-hill assaults against entrenched Confederate troops at Fredericksburg. In today’s military slang, the Confederates had a “target rich environment.” Watching his soldiers bloody repulse of Union forces, Lee uttered one of his more famous quips: “It is well that war is so terrible—we should grow too fond of it.” On Wednesday night, COS volunteers were in Fredericksburg for a GOP statewide candidates’ rally. They hoped to engage one or two members of the General Assembly. Like Lee’s troops, they found the environment “target rich.” House **District 54 Delegate Bobby Orrock** reaffirmed his continued support for COS, as did **District 88 Delegate Mark Cole**. State Senator **Richard Stuart** (Senate District 28) agreed to discuss greater involvement with COS when he meets with NoVA South Regional Captain **Scott Camden** later this month. State Senator **Bryce Reeves** (Senate District 17) affirmed his unwavering support for COS. House of Delegates **Speaker Bill Howell** (House District 28), stepping down this year after nearly three decades in the General Assembly, gave an enthusiastic thumbs up signaling his support for COS.  {{WW-Hackett__Dahmen__Reeves_24KB.jpg|WW-Hackett%%__%%Dahmen%%__%%Reeves_24KB.jpg}} **//(L-R) State Communications Coordinator Laurie Hackett, District 54 Captain John Dahmen, State Senator Bryce Reeves//** District 54 Captain **John Dahmen** and Scott Camden spoke with GOP candidate for Governor, **Ed Gillespie**. They reminded him who his role model should be: Texas governor Greg Abbott! As COS supporters know, however, the governor has no formal role in our COS resolution. Although also seeking a position with no formal role regarding COS, GOP candidate for Attorney General **John Adams** announced his firm support for an Article V amendments convention. {{gillespie-dahmen.jpg|gillespie-dahmen.jpg}}  **//(L-R) GOP candidate for Governor Ed Gillespie, District 54 Captain John Dahmen//** **//For COS supporters in the Districts mentioned above, now would be a good time to contact your state legislator and thank him for pledging to support COS://** |**District**|**Legislator**|**Phone** |**Email** | |House 54 |Bobby Orrock |(540) 891-1322|DelBOrrock@house.virginia.gov | |House 88 |Mark Cole |(540) 786-3402|DelMCole@house.virginia.gov | |Senate 28 |Richard Stuart|(804) 493-8892|district28@senate.virginia.gov| |Senate 17 |Bryce Reeves |(540) 645-8440|district17@senate.virginia.gov|
