Everyone who signs up on the CitizenBuilder website, whether by signing the petition, filling out the //Receive Updates// form, applying for a leadership position, or just using the //Sign Up Now// link on the Sign In page, has an account, which enables them to sign in once their email address has been confirmed.              COS Leaders who had an assigned role in NationBuilder were provided a //confirmed// account in CitizenBuilder in connection with the transition. However, since CitizenBuilder requires that only one email address be assigned for use as a **Login Email**, it can be somewhat confusing as to which email address to use. See the **//First Sign-In for Prior COS Leaders//** section below for details. For everyone else who had a profile in NationBuilder, the profile was brought over to CitizenBuilder, but without an account, so a new account will need to be created to sign in. The advantage of supporters signing in on the website is that they will then see content targeted specifically to their state and home districts. They just need to use the Sign Up form to create their account. ==== New CitizenBuilder Accounts ==== When you sign up on the CitizenBuilder website and an account is created, you will automatically receive an email with the subject //Welcome to Convention of States Action!// sent from info@cosaction.com. This email contains a link that is used to confirm the email address you used is valid and accessible to you. Once confirmed, you will then receive another email with the subject //Convention of States: Your CitizenBuilder account is now confirmed!// which contains a temporary password to use to sign in with. You should change your password using your My Profile page once you're signed in. If you did not receive the confirmation email, you can request it be sent again by going to the Forgot Your Password page and clicking on the //Didn't receive confirmation instructions?// link at the bottom. Then just enter the email address in the entry field and click the //Resend Confirmation Instructions// button. If you still don't receive the email, check your spam folder. If you get the Not Found message, that indicates the email address is not the **Login Email** for the account. ==== First Sign-In for Prior COS Leaders ==== If your account was created for you when we transitioned to CitizenBuilder, the first question to be answered is what email address is assigned as the **Login Email**. Another leader who has access to your profile will be able to tell you this, but if that's not convenient, you may //figure// this out by trying each email address that might be on your profile. You would then need to reset your password since you would not know it. Generally the **Login Email** will be the one that was previously set as your //primary// email address. Enter that with the Forgot your password? link on the Sign In page to receive an email with the subject //Reset password instructions// which contains a link to set a new password. If that works, you're all set. If it's not the correct email address, you will see the Not Found error message. In this case, try another email address that may be on your profile. If you are unable to find an email address that works, this likely indicates your account does not yet exist. To create a new account, click on the Sign Up Now link on the Sign In page, and fill out your email address and password. As long as you select an email address that is on your profile, this should connect the new account to your profile. If the email address entered is already used as a Login Email for another account, you will see the message User With This Email Already Exists. Try To Sign In. In this case, go back and use that email address with the Forgot your password? link to reset the password. ==== Prior Supporters from NationBuilder ==== For non-leaders who had a profile in NationBuilder, their profile was loaded into CitizenBuilder but without an account. To create a new account, all they need to do is use the Sign Up Now link on the Sign In page. As long as they use an email address that was on their NationBuilder profile, their new account will get associated with their existing CitizenBuilder profile. After clicking the //Sign Up// button, an email is sent with the subject //Confirmation instructions// and contains a link to confirm their email address. Since they set their password in the Sign Up form already, their account is all set and they may then sign in after clicking on the link in the email. ==== Email or Password Not Working ==== If you've already gotten signed in the first time and your password is now not working, indicated by the Invalid Email or password message, use the Forgot your password? link on the Sign In page to have an email sent to you with a link that allows you to reset your password. Until the link is used and a new password set, nothing will be changed on the account. Another possibility is that the **Login Email** for your account has gotten changed. Another leader with access to your profile can determine the current email address for you, or you can follow the above instructions for locating the correct email address by trial and error. ==== Leader Invite System ==== To facilitate the transition of volunteers with an assigned role at the time of the transition to CitizenBuilder, an //Invite// system was developed which created a //confirmed// account and allowed an invite email to be sent, which included the **Login Email** and a temporary password. Each time an invite email is resent, a new temporary password is created. This system was intended for use only during the transition, but if someone has still not signed in for the first time and they are on the invite list, an invite email may still be resent to them rather than them using the Forgot your password? link described above.   If you're still having trouble getting signed in after following the above instructions, submit a trouble ticket at the COS Help Center and someone will get back to you. Be sure to include the email address you are using to sign in or create your account with in your message.
