He graduated from the University of Arkansas where he played on the Razorback football team. He and his wife Kathi have 2 children and 7 grandchildren. Gary serves in the Arkansas Senate representing District 6. Prior to his election to the Senate in 2013, Gary served in the Arkansas House, representing the District 67 from 2011 to 2013. Gary was the Senate sponsor of the Convention of States resolution in 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019, when it finally passed. Austin was elected to the Arkansas House in 2017, representing District 95. He currently serves as the Republican Majority Leader. Austin was the House sponsor of the Convention of States resolution that passed in 2019. Just a couple of days prior to the vote, we were short of the 51 votes needed to pass. He joined the Army National Guard at the age of 17 and, after graduating from Arkansas Tech, accepted a commission as a second Lieutenant in the Marine Corps. He served 22 years as an infantry officer, retiring as a Lt. Col. Marcus coached football at the college level in Virginia before coming home to Arkansas where he coached high school athletics at Mansfield. He then became president/CEO of America’s Pet Registry. Marcus and his wife Susan have 2 children and 4 grandchildren. Marcus served as State Representative for District 21 for six years and served as Majority Leader in 2019 when Convention of States passed on the fourth attempt. He served as Majority Whip during the 2019 session and was critical behind the scenes in building support for passage of the COS resolution. Brandt has a B.A. in applied behavioral sciences, an M.A. in religion and education, and a Ph.D. in organization, management, and leadership. He is president of Brandt Smith Consulting & Associates and served as an associate professor at the School of Security and Global Studies at American Military University. Brandt served in Iraq as a GS15 under TRADOC/21 embedding with several brigades and battalions conducting intelligence/information gathering for his commanders. He was awarded a Bronze Star. Brandt and his wife Gailia have two sons and two daughters.|
