Holding true to its name, Alaska was the second state to pass the Convention of States resolution on April 19, 2014. Keith Heim, State Director, and Christine Hutchinson, Regional Captain, welcomed Joyce Berry, Associate Regional Director, and Brenda Karlin, Regional Director, to participate in three team meetings held March 2, 3, and 4 during Alaska's premier winter festival, Fur Rendezvous!    Twenty one patriots attended Christine's meeting in Kenai, which is located three hours south of Anchorage. Christine holds regular, well attended meetings, and her team is well versed on local government. Attendees listened intently to the COS presentation, asked good questions, and enjoyed camaraderie and tasty tacos for two hours. Everyone left the meeting with a smile, a COS lapel sticker, and a renewed determination.  In Anchorage, Keith conducted two open house style meetings, March 3 and 4, from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.  Alaska State Senator Shelley Hughes, payed the team a live, virtual one-hour-plus visit. Senator Hughes is a COS supporter, and was a participant at the 2016 COS Simulation. District Captain team member Tyson Bundy (HD-AK 24) and Keith created, and submitted for approval, their first call to action proposal for a local school board election. Petitions were signed, and COS literature was taken by attendees to share with others. As in Kenai, attendees were engaged in local government and attentive to Keith's COS presentation.  Alaska is the third smallest state based on population with a total of 740,339-or about the same as the //city// of Seattle, Washington (Vermont is #2, Wyoming is #1). If you are tired of big government, join the fight to put our runaway federal government back in its box by calling a Convention of States to: 1) Propose term limits; 2) Impose fiscal restraints; and 3) Reduce the size and power of the federal government. Help keep Alaska as the "great land".  If you are interested in joining our COS Alaska team of patriots, please visit conventionofstates.com, sign our petition if you haven't already, and click on the TAKE ACTION tab to become a volunteer!      \\ \\
