Within Convention of States, a new coalition is being formed that will focus on the energy sector in the state of Texas. This will be the Energy Independence Coalition (EIC), whose purpose is to serve as the catalyst for the development of balanced energy independence within the state by establishing a networking infrastructure that can drive smart and common-sense energy initiatives within the public and private sectors.
With the help of volunteer grassroots activists and outside energy advisors, the EIC plans to drive COS outcomes in energy security and environmental responsibility, development of energy literacy in America, and the forming of a comprehensive energy policy that is consistent with the COS values of free-enterprise and self-governance.
Energy, whether renewable, conventional, sustainable, subsidized, capitalized, free, or expensive, has become a necessity in the generation of today, and will likely find itself even more indispensable to the generation of tomorrow. Therefore, in the interest of long-term planning, it behoves us to consider the far-reaching effects of decisions made by those placed in positions of authority, as they will certainly affect us sooner or later. Based upon recent experiences such as the Texas Snowmageddon in February 2021, it will likely be sooner.
Though the great freeze of that winter brought energy issues to the forefront of many minds, specifics are often hard to come by, and intelligent discussions even harder to find. We all know that more than half of Texans are less than half interested in what the mainstream media puts out in the name of news.
Texans want responsibility from those they have placed in a position of authority, with their vote, to deal with these issues that affect each individual in every community.
Texans also want to understand more fully the basic issues at stake, and how to make decisions that will affect their utilities in a positive way in the future.
It is to accomplish these goals that the Energy Independence Coalition is being formed. Its purpose is to provide a nonpartisan, consistent, intelligent, and truthful narrative that will inform, encourage participation, and provide discussion points.
As a coalition of COS, EIC is nonpartisan as the issue itself is nonpartisan in nature. It doesn't matter what side of the fence one is on; if they are on the American side of the fence and are paying taxes, they want to have at least the same quality of energy as they have been enjoying for decades. The only time this becomes a partisan issue is when more than utilities are at stake, including money in the form of subsidies, etc.
With these ideas in mind, EIC looks forward to working with and for Texans in developing plans and initiatives that will move Texas towards a hard grid and common-sense infrastructure.
“A Convention of States is the only Constitutional way to limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government, and anyone who wants to give power back to the people will support this growing movement.” – Charlie Kirk, CEO and founder of Turning Point USA
