Many of us who have joined Convention of States are new, eager, and clueless to political activism. But this can be overcome.

Are you uncomfortable being an activist? Perhaps you are watching others demand, protest, harass, doxx, and cancel people, companies, and organizations. They do this to sway public debate, demand conformity, and ultimately influence governance, policy, and legislation.

Do you have to behave like that? Not at all. In fact, please do not.

Instead, talk to your friends and neighbors, call or email your legislators, and share on social media. We must tread carefully but confidently.

If you are feeling less than supreme confidence and only slightly better than when your mom just abandoned you at your first day of kindergarten, then read on.

The whole idea of COS is that you do not have to be an expert. All you need to know is:

Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Lord Acton said it, and it makes total sense. The examples are everywhere. Look at history, politics, church, work, sports, and school. People who get a taste of power tend to want more. That is what is happening in Washington, D.C. Not only do they want power, but they also want money–your money.
Our Founders knew that powerful people will always want more power. To check that, they combined decentralization, limited government, natural rights, and competing centers of power to invent the most successful political experiment in the history of mankind. All this political brilliance notwithstanding, the Founders nonetheless built in another failsafe for the preservation of liberty. It is called Article V of the Constitution: a convention of states.
An Article V Convention of States will occur when enough of us ask for it and do not take “no” for an answer. We ask for it politely. We keep at it until we achieve it. We achieve it when enough people like you repeatedly raise your voice, until our representatives realize that we are not going to give up or go away. Do not apologize, do not back down, and do it all with grace and without rancor. If someone is not receptive to the message, move on.

Pick your battles wisely and fight those that you reasonably can win.

If you give your task an honest and determined try, you will inspire somebody—especially yourself.
