You've probably heard the news. Athletic shoe company Nike discontinued a pair of patriotic shoes because former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick claimed they used a racist symbol.
Which symbol was so bad that one of the world's largest companies cancelled their Fourth of July shoes over it? The Betsy Ross flag.
The Betsy Ross flag is one of the earliest American flag designs. Much like the current flag, each star represents one of the original thirteen colonies. While slavery was still legal in the United States at the time the flag was flown, it in no way represents or endorses the institution.
In fact, as Jim Hoft points out in this article, the flag was flown at Barack Obama's own inauguration!
Nike may hate our country's heritage, but we don't. That's why right now, for a limited time, we're offering the “Just Fly It” Betsy Ross t-shirt for the Independence Day sale price of $17.76.
“Most Americans sick and tired of political correctness—sick and tired of Colin Kapernick too,“ said Mark Meckler, President of Convention of States Action. “It’s time for Americans to stand tall for America, and that includes the Betsy Ross flag. I ordered my Betsy Ross, 'Just Fly It' t-shirt today… join the revolution against political correctness and ‘just fly it’!”
