South Region Convention of States volunteers showed we are not by any means Sunshine Patriots. On Saturday, May 20, 2023, despite steady showers, a group of eight proudly participated in the Mount Holly Joint Veterans Committee annual flag placement at Veterans’ graves.

This annual event really gives one pause to reflect on the sacrifice made by our Veterans in service to America. There is nothing like placing a flag and saying the deceased person’s name to bring home the thought of “Wow! This person died protecting the freedoms I have enjoyed all my life!” It gives one the proverbial chills.

Events like the flag placing are also a good opportunity to connect with our local officials, who often participate in civic-oriented acts of service. We thank District 8 Senator Jean Stanfield and Assemblyman Brandon Umba, along with their staff, for supporting this event.

District 8 volunteers Stephanie Logan, Mark Murdy and his lovely wife, Misty McBride and her friend Patty, Murn Myers, Jo Stante and Mary Bailey showed their true patriotic mettle by braving the rain to honor our Veterans. Last year we were a group of two. Next year who knows how much we will have grown?!

Join us in our mission and be a member of the largest grassroots army in America calling for a Convention of States.
